Not in a while, but he's had a great year. Dozen or so rumored names will probably grow to twenty for the few remaining spots

Just don't understand why kids seem to be so keen on Auburn in comparison to UGA. We beat them nearly every year, our degrees are much stronger, Athens is a better city, etc. I just don't comprehend, it's like someone offering you a nice BMW and saying to them "naw, I'll just take the Accord instead"

Auburn is consistently putting good DLines on the field and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. They are losing several off their DLine this year and can promise immediate (or close to it) playing time, while pointing to Derrick Brown and Marlon Davidson whop will probably both go in the first round.

The really top prospects are not necessarily looking for the "college experience". They are looking at who goes to the NFL in the draft and what round they go in.

I get all that it's still just baffling. I wouldn't even be mad if the kid had chosen to go to Vanderbilt, that actually makes more sense than Auburn. Strong degree, available playing time, put together NFL tape, etc.
If I was a prospect, I'd either choose a high academic school or a powerhouse but Auburn is neither really. I just don't get it.

He feels he can go to the NFL. He isn't worried about his degree. Most players are not, honestly. Auburn is touting Derrick Brown, Marlon Davidson, Nick Fairley and several other DLinemen that have gone on to the NFL. Right now we don't have that to fall back on. We will shortly, but they have it right now.
Hey, it's okay. We have another great class coming in and yes, some of that class is DLinemen. Our DLine has played lights out this year, and we are fine.

I get the hate for Auburn but this is a comically dumb take and not at all surprising given the poster. An Auburn degree is not seen as subpar to any other major state school degree... frankly most of them are looked at as interchangeable at this stage with some specialty programs excluded. UNC/UVA/etc are sometimes elevated a bit but not by as much as you'd think from a hiring standpoint. They routinely put players into the league at the position with likely 2 first round additions this year. By definition, as a prospect, that is one of the top definitions of a powerhouse destination program.

We need to stop giving credit to schools for "putting players in the league" because it's irrelevant. It didn't matter where Derrick Brown went to college, he was going to be a first rounder. It's not like the coaching puts these kids into the league, it's their ability. If they're told otherwise, it's pure salesmanship. Buying a pair of Air Jordans won't make you jump higher nor will playing D-line at Auburn give you a better chance of being in the league.

BS...while ability does have a giant part to do with it, a coach's scheme and development can absolutely take a 3* to a NFL prospect. The best staffs can do that.

I get that, but when they are pointing to Trent Thompson and his failure, then point out Derrick Brown etc....well, it's not always a given that a top recruit can be sent to the NFL.
If I were a team recruiting against Georgia for a DLineman, I would want to discuss Trent Thompson as often as possible.

Which staffs?You think Bama or Ohio State is putting many 3 stars in the NFL?
DeAndre Baker and Jordan Davis are 3 stars.Would you give Kirby & Co credit for developing them?
Boise State and Missouri used to put undervalued guys in the NFL,Do you think they're some of the "best staffs"?

Many people would say that it should have been a foregone conclusion that as a recruit Trent Thompson would have gone to the NFL also... Teams have to develop, showcase, and provide a platform. There are a few positions we're better at that than others. There are some that other schools are better at other position groups... As with most things these are typically fluid.

Jake Bentley and Feliepe Franks announced they're leaving their programs. Wouldn't touch Franks with a 10 ft pole but Bentley could be serviceable here.

Franks might not be a bad idea in the back up roll. Let him run the Fields packages. He’s a big, athletic guy.
