Yeeeeeeeeah you try going around offering coveted staf spots on campus to athletes' relatives and see what happens. There would be a meltdown felt across the damn state.

Didn't this class start out over stacked at WR? IDGAF who catches the ball, WR/TE/RB, so long as we're smart about throwing it.

Also Womack said in the article where he talks about his picks that he basically CB'd Brown to UTk because he has no idea where he's going to go and UTk is supposed to get the last visit.

You do realize we do the same thing. Wasn't it Ledbetter we gave a scholarship to his sister, or something?

Um, no his brother got a scholarship and he had to work out for it. He came in as a tightend after previously playing college basketball and he also played football in high school. He was an actual athlete. Laremy Tunsils little brother was a freshman in high school at the time he got his promise that his brother would get a scholarship. When he did finish high school he finished with a total of 10 catches. I mean, you are comparing apples to fricking coconuts. We got a football player that at the very least could contribute on special teams. They got a number and one that wasn't even available until years later. Like I said, I like their hustle.

Looking pretty good for EJ Price. He talked very good about Coach Smart and Pittman today. Pittman has been after him hard and that's how we got the last visit.

Brian Burns is down to FSU and UGA per insiders but I expect him to pick FSU which sucks. He is going to be a good one.

Derrick Brown is a wildcard but no one expects us to get him at this point. He could be playing games but I think he goes elsewhere. Wouldn't suprise me to seem him choose UT or AU.

But not somebody we would have given a scholarship to on their own, right? (You are correct, by the way. I remembered something like that after you put it in your post)

My point is this....we gave a scholarship to someone that we normally would not have given it to. So, what's the difference?

Has he contributed at all to this point, though? He probably will never walk onto the field....as a player. He MIGHT dress out, but he certainly would not have gotten a scholarship, right?

I don't like the seedy side of recruiting. I really don't. But, I realize it is what it is. And....I did not mean to sound condescending or critical towards you. I reread my post and it did sound that way.

Probably not , He had been playing basketball so he probably doesn't even get a tryout without his brother. At least the staff made him workout before extending an offer. Pretty sure he worked out for us on more than one occasion as well. He may not ever play for us but sometimes those basketball kids turn into pretty good players.

Hard to say. When we offered Cootie Harrow a 2 star linebacker no one expected him to play and he ended up playing special teams for us. I don't ever expect him to crack the TE rotation though.

I don't want UGA to break the rules but if Ole Miss is getting away with it I seen no problem with us at the very least being on an even playing field. As for Tre Nixon....I doubt he got any special benefits. With Shea Patterson being his next QB, being a WR for them looks really good for him.

I have no problem with offering relatives. I mean, it uses two scholarships, so it kind of evens things up a bit. Which would you rather have....1 5* or 2 4*? (I guess it depends on who the 5* is and if you can get another 4* with the extra scholarship.)

Cootie Harrow?

Great name. I've never heard of him.

Quintavious "Cootie" Harrow. You've got some 'crootin' learnin' to do if you aren't familiar with the Cootieship ...

So that's where Cootieship came from! Yes, I've heard of it, I just didn't know where it came from. I'm a much older guy. Recruiting wasn't NEARLY what it is today when I played.
