McMillan lays out what UGA would have to do to secure his commitment (I still call BS):
Clemson:
Ohio State:
Bama:
Florida:
I'll take "Massive Prima Donnas" for $500, Alex.
quote:
“They really have to sell it to my parents during my official,” McMillan said. “I got to get a good relationship with the players and they need to give me the inside feedback on the linebackers’ coach and defensive coordinator. I just want to know how it really is at Georgia.”
Clemson:
quote:
“I have seen everything I can see from Clemson,” McMillan said. “I think I have been up there the most, so they just have to sell it to me. The “all in” thing and the chills you get before they run down the hill – the Georgia players even came over to watch -- that just shows that it is one of the best atmospheres in college football. So really on my official I just need to know for a fact that I want to go there.”
Ohio State:
quote:
“Coach Meyer, I saw what he did with some of those teams at Florida and he went undefeated last year, so obviously he is a great head coach. Coach Fickell has a track record of putting great linebackers into the NFL. Every time I went up there they showed me something new and made me want to come back. The distance factor – everybody says it is not going to be a factor, but every now and then I think about it,” McMillan said. “For Ohio State to get my commitment, on the official visit they will just need to wow me and blow me away.”
Bama:
quote:
“Alabama is Alabama,” McMillan said. “Regardless of what anyone says or does, they are going to play good defense and constantly put defensive players in the NFL, so it is very intriguing for anyone that wants to go to Alabama.”
“Alabama talks to me at least twice a week,” McMillan said. “Matter of fact, on the way home from practice Thursday, I was talking to Coach Saban and Coach Smart. Having the coach that has won three of the last four national championships on the phone really pulls you into the conversation.
“I am not trying to go to Alabama to ride the bench, or any school, so I just have to know for a fact that if I come to Alabama they will put me in the best position to do something with my future.”
Florida:
quote:
“I have built a great relationship with Coach Travaris Robinson and Coach D.J. Durkin,” McMillan said. “Coach Will Muschamp is a defensive-minded head coach that always has his defenses bltitzing, so I like that scheme.”
“I just want to see them make a big run at the national championship this year,” McMillan said. “That would really be intriguing.”

Keyon Brown has bumped his announcement up to 9/26, says his leader is UGA, and that he already knows what school he's going to pick. I don't throw around the word lock very often, but this one appears to be a lock.

Seriously. This kid has turned me off to the point where I don't care how talented he is, kick rocks. Hate the attitude he has.

Agreed. I've been wrong in the past, however. I was pretty critical of Brendan Langley, based on interviews he gave about "not feeling the love" from UGA when he committed to USCjr, and that turned around for us. He's a DGD for taking his lumps like he has and jumping right into the secondary as a true freshman.

I heard something interesting last weekend regarding Stephenson High School and their reputation of getting their players scholarships to D1 schools. Last year they had 18 players who signed Letters of Intent to play football in college. What you didn't hear is that only 3 of them actually qualified to take advantage of that free ride. The rest couldn't qualify academically.

A lot of that is kids transferring in with bad grades And some not passing the grad tests or eocts.

Never claimed to know him personally, but I know what he puts out there for public consumption, and there's a consistent theme.

Nope, never claimed to have been. I do have a pretty good grasp on the English language, however, and I can tell when someone's comments on the record consistently trend towards "over-entitled brat."

So yet again you are assuming and speaking out of your arse.

Don't take it personally, Hines. A lot of us follow recruiting really hard and we just have to take what we read as the best info available (because that's all we can really do). From your posts on here I can tell you're closer to him and his family than we are, and we appreciate all of your posts so keep them comin. We hope you're right so just take everything posted about RM with a grain of salt.
Regardless of what he says in interviews, I'm sure most of us will admit we hope he signs with the good guys in the end.

It just pisses me off that these guys will sit here and repeatedly talk shite about a HIGH SCHOOL KID that they know nothing about. On top of that, what exactly in his quotes that were cited would deem him a "MASSIVE PRIMA DONNA"?

Who are our early enrollees?

It's not necessarily the content of the quotes from yesterday that I'm solely basing my opinion of this kid on, but rather the aggregate of, (I'll say it again) the way he presents himself when he talks to the media.
Hinesville, if you know him personally, then obviously you're MUCH closer to the situation than I am, and I'll certainly take any input under advisement, but after a while the "they've really gotta roll out the red carpet for me," and "[that school] has got to blow me away when I'm there on my OV," adds up to what I can only believe over the course of 18 months in the recruiting spotlight as being an accurate reflection of this kid's opinion of his own stock. Especially when the things that I just mentioned are far more mild than others that have shaped my perception of him.
Absolutely, I hope he's a Dawg when it's all said and done. I even said earlier in the week that I was totally wrong about my opinion of Brendan Langley once the smoke cleared, versus the impression I got from his public comments about various schools during his recruitment.
My #1 issue with what I've read from McMillan is that he's handled his recruitment like it's a lottery to be won by one school or the other, and once he signs his LoI, then glory be to them, because this kid can see the Matrix on the gridiron. Just ask him, he'll tell you.
I didn't even start out posting the quotes as an attack on McMillan. I felt others might appreciate the information being shared, since he's been very vocal about his Top 5, and this was new. The prima donna comment was an afterthought, but again, based on the sum of what I've read from him, not based solely on the quotes. It would seem that a few others have gotten a similar vibe from him given the same info.
UGA's straits are not so dire that the program is going to implode if they miss out on getting this one kid to sign. It's not Georgia Tech.
