Excellent points.....and....is it necessarily wrong to do that? I mean, isn't that what life is? You will always have a prima donna or two sign with your class. They feel they don't have to work as hard because they have been told all their lives (and during their recruitment) that they are special. So, they never develop their talents and don't progress.

If you are in the "real" world and don't do your job, you get fired. While these kids are not being paid cash, they are receiving an education for performing on the field. That education costs about $40,000-50,000 dollars over four years, maybe more at a public school and about $40,000-50,000 a YEAR at a private school. If a kid does not perform should he keep his "job"? I mean, if he doesn't perform in the NFL, will a team keep him on the roster or cut him?

Just something to think about....I am wondering what the rest of you think about this.

Strong point. I never said that we were horrible at player development. I would just argue that part of the reason, if not most of it, that Saban gets so much out of his players is his s&c program. In my opinion Scott Cochran is the best in the business. Georgia has come on strong in that department lately and I like John Thomas, I just wish it wouldn't have taken so long to make that change. They created an image of "softness" for the team and it takes time to shake that in the eyes of critics and recruits. So what I'm saying is that Saban gets the most physically out of his players which translates onto the field. He creates a culture of focus and discipline and for his teams it seems to begin in the weight room.

but I can inly think of very few who were not elite that ever did much in the NFL from Bama.

Been saying it for years. UGA consistently has 5 Pro Bowlers, Bama maybe 1. When you talk about collegiate success it’s Bama, but UGA develops better NFL talent. It’s not even debatable. I think the Dawgs had the most players (6) in the Top 100 NFL player countdown?

Nick Saban is a great coach, but his players are system players. That’s why there are so many bust that come out of Bama

Yep. None of his defensive backs know how to backpedal. That's why you don't see any of his great secondary players excel in the NFL like you should.

To be fair you have to ask how those pro bowlers did during their time at uga. I think that's a more accurate barometer of CMR and his ability to develop players, rather than to just say look how many guys we have in the nfl, but I understand what you're saying.

Fair point. However, we’re not talking about another Terrell Davis coming out of UGA as a backup and running for 2k yards. AJ, Geno, Stafford, Tim Jennings, Justin Houston, etc. all contributed in Athens. Some more so than others, but point is better NFL players come out of UGA in comparison to Bama.

The bust factor is extremely high with Saban dating back to Michigan State, LSU and now Bama

Then Webster on Oct. 3. After that I'm pretty sure all if the targets we have on our board will be dragging it out until the end.

That does not translate into having great teams.

Coaches not only have to accumulate great talent, but team building is just as important. That is what Saban excels at, and Richt, not so much.

I'm afraid this is the year, more so than last year, that we pay for only having 69 players on scholly 2 years ago.

That is why everyone is holding their breath about this years defense. Would have been nice to have had 7-8 of missing 16 scholarship players with experience on defense this year. It's one thing to replace back ups with inexperienced players, but combine that with the same thing with the starters. Not a good thing.

Agree with your point, but as it relates to the defense.

On "O" we have plenty of depth and experience.

On "D", not so much.

Plenty of talent, but not enough experience in our system.

Kennar, Fluker, Wiggins, Langley, Matthews, Mauger, are all in their first year in our system and each of them will have to play, due to injuries to Wilkinson and Bostic. JHC, Deas, Moore, Bowman and S. Dawson saw playing time, but mostly on special teams.

4 of the 9 DLs are new to the system. 4 of 7 ILBs. 3 of 8 OLBs.

Getting enough of the new guys ready to play by August 31 is a major challenge for CTG.

Please don't contact recruits directly unless your a high school classmate with them. It is creepy when middle age guys beg teenagers to go to their alma mater. Please leave that to our coaching staff.

For those who subscribe to ESPN, Kipp Adams was just hired away by 247. 247 is absolutely pillaging the other pay-sites.

Shannon Terry is a genius. Sells Rivals to Yahoo! for 100 million with some non-compete, then once that expires, builds a competing product with more bells and whistles, pillages other pay site content producers, and creates a better work environment.

Genius
