Or how bout killing almost a minute trying to go for it on fourth down then just kicking the field goal anyways. I didn’t understand that at all

Again - I don’t think that’s on him. 4th down - two false starts. Getting 3 points was the right call at that point.

If your QB is incapable of making the throw, I fail to see how it was a good call?

Do you seriously think Jimbo called a play for a pass he knew King couldn't make? You don't think they haven't practiced that play and pass before?

Jimbo apparently said Stewart wasn't even the 1st read, he was the 3rd, King just didn't process it fast enough after Moose and Green/Marshall couldn't get open.

I have never played QB, but as a former defensive guy I think that if you are on your third read at close yardage, I like my odds.

No. It was not a good call because Jimbo should have known that is too difficult of a throw for him to make w/the game on the line. Period. End of story.

I don't get this. If it was a committed pass to the pylon, a 9 year old can make that throw. It wasn't too difficult. It was either late in the progression or bad execution.

Kings throw was "late" and "innaccurate" because it was rushed. Stewart ran the route wrong, too shallow and broke too early, meaning King had to catch up. King made a hurried throw since he knew he was already too late and we got what we got.

My issue with the play call is, although it's 100% effective if run perfectly, we had no reason to expect perfection from a FR WR and a battered QB.

Stewart is a star in the making, but its not due to precision/dependability. He has a lot of loosey-goosey freshman tendencies, and that doesn't work for this kind of route. It's one of the few times where one of our less talented but more experienced WR would have been the better option.

Y'all keep saying it was an easy throw (lol at saying a 9 year old can make that pass) all while ignoring that King has never shown he can make that kind of throw w/any kind of accuracy.

Nguyening brings up another good point that not only was Jimbo relying on an inaccurate QB to make a perfect timing throw, he also expected freshman WR to run the perfect route.

I'm sorry but these kids aren't robots. Jimbo expects those two to make that play was begging for failure. Had they been vet players who had routinely made those kids of plays it would be one thing but they are both young guys who have been mistake prone.

Earlier I was asked what I would have done, well it would have been something designed to get it to Achane as the first option. A swing pass designed to get him 1 on 1 most likely. He's our best player and the ball should have been in his hands.

Hell, even a run would have been ok by me. In the last two possessions A&M ran 21 plays. Exactly 2 of them were rushing plays and Achane got 15 yards on one and King got 1 on the other. I doubt Bama would have even expected a run at that point TBH.

Unless it's Tim Duncan in 2008 vs. Phoenix in the playoffs

But to be fair, Timmy is the greatest Spur of all time. King...isn't even an elite Aggie QB yet (and may never be).

Jimbo does a bunch of dumb shite, including calling plays his team can’t execute under pressure. I honestly couldn’t begin to guess what goes on in Jimbo’s head, but I can assure you it’s not a lot.
