They never had to learn to cook, cause their mammy cooked for them for generations

Is Oxford supposed to be known for its food?

Have you tried Lenora’s?
St Leo?
Bouré?
Grillehouse?
Redneck country cooking is not Cajun cooking, I agree though.

As much as it is constantly talked about, it has to be pretty good right?

Probably served West of the Mississippi or North of the Mason Dixon Line
The WORST Southern food is still better that food outside the South (in Merica). Outside the USA, the Chinese, Indians (dot), Italians, etc at kick butt in the kitchen.
My man Kige, with his ties to Bowling Green, has one of the best "hole in the wall" Indian joints in the South.

There's a reason they go to the gas station for chicken on a stick.

I’m all for bashing Ole Miss, but there are quite a few good restaurants for a town of that size.

Not to bang on Oxford, but better food in Starkville.
Overall folks are more genuine there
I am not a city mouse, and as a country mouse I just like real folks.

Snack Bar and City Grocery have James Beard award winning chefs.
Big Bad Breakfast, Handy Andy’s, Taylor’s Grocery, Bourè and Ajax are all great.

Imagine a UVA tailgate, then take away the ability to heat the food.
Welcome to Oxford.

Sullivan’s and Ruffino’s were my “go-to” when I lived in BR 2009-2014

Or maybe, and hear me out here, I am speaking from experience. I lived in BR for 7 years and lived in Oxford for 6 years.
