Since 2000?

The hype has been out of control.

LSU/Bama in 2011 would be the other one I would think of.

Game of the century was pretty insane

Cell service on campus that day was non-existent

This doesn’t compare to the 2011 game of the century. Both teams had a bye coming into it so the hype was off the charts and were 1 & 2 in the country.

This will be a lot of hate watching, but outside of Oxford and Baton Rouge this game means very little to the overall college football landscape.

Hype leading to a game this early in the season, No.

This game will probably be a huge let down as I don’t see Ole Miss stopping LSU with their secondary. They looked lost the 1st 2 games.
They would be 1-1 if Louisville had learned about the forward pass before the game and not at half time

Literally once or twice every season. I’ll be glad when this Ole Miss jilted lover drama fueled by the media charade is over

2011 LSU-Bama. The only game that came close was when Michigan and Ohio State played at the end of 2006 in the big ten.

The hype for the game of the century just built every day for 2 weeks. It was surreal.

On the field, sure and not very debatable.

Off the field, no and not even debatable.

Saban’s return to LSU in ‘08 might be the closest, but would have been the equivalent of Saban ditching LSU for Bama the week of the SEC championship game in 2003 and returning to BR in ‘04.

While cell service can get overloaded, the Secret Service blocks cell service in the proximity of the POTUS.

Yes. While this is a big one, this is nothing compared to 2011 GOTC. This is a Top 10 September matchup that’s getting packaged as much more due to story lines and emotion. 2011 had some similar (although not quite as charged) story lines, but it was #1 vs 2 in November with what we thought was everything on the line. The loser of this game could lose 2 or 3 more games and still make the playoffs. No comparison.

Game of the century.

Most unreal atmosphere and lead up ever.

Technically wasn’t it one vs one? I think the AP and CFP rankings flipped them. But I think the early season aspect combined with the expanded playoffs takes some of the bite out of this one.

Also Bama - Ga 2020 was a pretty epic game. Yeah, we lost but I think that was the day the Legend of Stetson Bennett was born
