but as evidenced by Clemson's success over the past few seasons, a talent gap can be overcome.

You're like the 5th Gator fan that's brought up Clemson.WTF?Let me know when you get the next Deshaun Watson of Trevor Lawrence and then you can go ahead and
bring up Clemson.

Do you have any idea the shite Dabo caught for losing big games in his 1st few seasons?Does anybody remember "Daboing"

BTW, Spurrier AND Urban pulled elite classes. Some were top 3 and a couple of number ones and were FAR better coaches then Mullen.

I'm pretty confident that Mullen will find or develop the next Dak or Watson or Lawrence. He's been pretty good at QBs, if you haven't heard.

UT is building the right way, inside-out. UF better hope they hit on all those 2 and 3 star OL or it's going to be a long yr.

I think they pulled two 4* OT and one or two 4* OG's this year. (And another high 3* OG...just checked) I mean, he seems to be doing okay along the DLine and OLine. Not great but very solid.

Sometimes I almost feel like it’s unfair, how Boom mUSChamp and SC are sneaking up on the rest of the East. But I think it’s good this way ... no one will see it coming.

A thread that invites UTk and UF to talk, along with UGA fans, about how The East will be rules and everyone in this thread, so far at least, is basing it on recruiting rankings for one class.

Everyone claiming UGA and UTk are “doing it the right way” building the trenches, etc., etc.

In the meantime some of y’all may wanna check classes.

There are some of us out here, not just SC fans, who would match our DLine class with anyone’s, including UGA’s, over the past two classes. And this next class of DLinemen may well be Boom’s best given the in state talent on the board this year.

He’s recruited every position well ... upgraded talent across the board. Solid OLine classes, solid QBs already in the fold and more on the way. Solid WRs, DBs, RBs, TEa ... we need work at LB maybe and we need more DBs but we’re getting there.

Here’s the crazy thing. We’ve taken some of the state of Tennessee’s best players in the process and are looking to take more. DLinemen and OLinemen no less. We beat UGA for a DLineman in Georgia. We’re taking solid players out of Florida, North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia and even a Top Ten player out of the state of California.

But some of y’all actually believe the East will be all about UGA, UF and UTk from here on out?

lulz ... some of y’all need to educate yourselves on what’s happening in the division.

I get leaving Vandy outta the conversation.

Mizzou ... okay, but when have they ever recruited well yet they still give teams fits.

Kentucky, under Stoops, will continue to be competitive even after losing some players this year.

The East is by no means a three team division and it is certainly not a UTk top 3 division right now. Pruitt has a lot of work to do, a whole lotta work to do, before he’ll pass SC in the current pecking order.

With that said, Boom has to outrecruit Proot ... that’s a must. Mullen can be outrecruited but Pruitt is out there doing it Fulmer style and that makes him dangerous because, sooner or later, UTk will be back to doing what Fulmer did on the recruiting trail ... money and negative recruiting. That’s just the facts. That’s the Fulmer way.

Lol Boom will come nowhere close to out recruiting Pruitt.

And the only good player you’ve signed from Tennessee is Anderson. Iyama was the #77 OT in the class, and Mullins couldn’t get an offer at WR from UT, Ole Miss, or any other p5 school, you beat out Memphis and Cincinnati for his services

His record vs. Tennessee? He's a mediocre coach at best and he's always won with less talent vs. the Vols.

It sure is a big accomplishment to rack up wins against Lyle and Dooley. His comment was also solely discussing recruiting.

We've beat them in 2017 by a combined 83-7 and last year by a combined 74-31
157-38 for an average win of 39.25-9.5 if I'm not mistaken.

The gap should be narrowing. I don't know why some of our fans think that means we still won't be ahead of them.

Right now, it's a UGA division with us being 12-0 in the division over the last two years.

That very well could change, and I know Florida had a similar season as a whole to us, but when it comes down solely to the division, we were in a different class than everyone else the last two years IMO.

2019 Team Rankings

#9 Florida
17 4-stars
8 3-stars
91.06 avg

#18 South Carolina
1 5-star
6 4-stars
17 3-stars
89.09 avg

If Mullen is so easy to outrecruit, why couldn't you do it in such a down year for in-state talent in Florida?

We're on tap for a top 5 finish in 2020; I can't wait to see how USC compares.

Bottom line, UT and UF have been dumpster fires. The blue chip ratios for both teams shot up with these classes. Mullen has really rebuilt the team pretty solidly in two years losing a lot of 3 star guys and adding 4 star guys.

So yeah, the gap is closing. It isn't closed. It's closing.

Tennessee's Niedermeyer 247Sports National Recruiter of the Year

We've obviously got the most ground to make up between the 3 teams, but Pruitt being able to assemble a staff of recruiters of this caliber is a big step forward.
