Outside of the usual big time recruiting states, which one has the most talent..

Sorry I left a cliffhanger but it wouldn't fit...but what I was saying is outside of say California, Texas, Florida etc. What are some states that maybe are 2nd tier that have a good but more talent than usual this year? As an example, Alabama occasionally has years where Mobile and Jefferson county are just loaded with talent. This sometimes puts Alabama into an upper tier of talent.
I'm curious as to maybe what sort of state(s) similar to that coaches may be aiming towards and for recruiting this year? I have heard Arizona has a good bit this year.

Virginia and North Carolina.
It is time to start mentioning GA, with the likes of FL, CA, TX.

Completely agree! Don't forget Louisiana tho.
hot beds are everywhere but i look more to heavily populated metropolitan areas. The likes of St. Louis, Indianapolis, Detroit, Vegas, Philly, DC.

Can't forget Ohio and Michigan and some good diamonds in the rough in Oklahoma.

Mississppi has some pretty decent talent given the size of the state and no major metro area.

Here's a link to NFL players by state. It also lists some of the top states per capita in the second paragraph. I think over the past half decade or so Louisiana has held pretty steadily at the top for per capita NFL players and states like FL/GA/SC/MS/AL moving around in the top 10 or so at different years

New Jersey always puts out studs.
At the same time, its curious how NYC never really has too many D1 players. I guess its more of a basketball city. Still the biggest city in the US should have a few players in there somewhere

We got a little bit to go to catch the big 3 but much respect.
GA football has came a long way in 10 years. :)

I think TN football will be drastically better in about 10 or 15 years. The whole state is growing, with Nashville being one of the fastest growing cities in the nation.
The city of Nashville is now the same size ATL was in 1985.

Top big athletes in the NY/New England area are likely pursuing basketball and hockey. In a place like NY and Chicago where space is such a premium, it is much easier to have basketball courts in your neighborhood--also much cheaper to play.

I'd say California, Florida and Texas are 1-3 in any order you want to put them in. Georgia is a clear-cut No. 4 and Louisiana is equally as clear-cut at 5. Then Tennessee, Alabama, Ohio, Virginia, the Carolinas and New Jersey in some semblance after that.

One of these is not like the other. Michigan doesn't produce the raw number of D1 or elite D1 talent like Ohio does.

I'd say you don't really have a clue.
The big 5 states are Florida, Texas, California, Georgia and Ohio. Georgia and Ohio are interchangeable depending on the year.
And in case you want to argue the point. Where do college football players come from?

Ohio has about 7 million more people than Louisiana and only 12 more NFL players. Pretty sad. I guess the college numbers are bc you've got to get slow white kids from somewhere to fill all those big ten rosters.

Sad commentary coming from a Vandals fan.
Look at Alabama's offer list of Ohio kids and then talk to me about the slow players from the state. Ignorance gonna ignorance I guess.
BTW, the thread is about college recruiting and not about players in the NFL.

They used to be. Not anymore. A few Internet searches found me these numbers.
FBS Signees by State:
2011: Georgia - 170. Ohio - 144
2012: Georgia - 165. Ohio - 159
2013: Georgia - 184. Ohio - 145
2014: Georgia - 188. Ohio - 153
2012 is the only year in the last 4 that's close. The gap is only going to grow with population shifting south.
