They have the number 1 class by a mile in 2023 and have gotten some defensive studs since the SEC announcement
I think this move will benefit them the most. If Lincoln can get elite D talent they will be a force

They are not in the SEC.

They did start out 2023 very well. All guys on the offensive side of the ball. But its Aug of 2021. Lets see how everyone else does, who's ratings changes, and who decommits before making any claims.

Where's the defense?

As usual, no defense at Oklahoma. The offensive recruits are impressive

We’ve been recruiting better on defense since Grinch was hired, but not elite. The SEC move has not factored in recruiting yet, I’m sure it will. The offensive guys in the 2023 class were coming regardless of conference. We just have to figure out how to keep them from flipping. I live in OK and don’t listen to the sports radio guys up here.

OU has had trouble holding onto these touted early signees.
2020 - 9 decommits including 2 5 stars and 4 4 stars
2021 - 2 decommits including 1 5 star QB
2022 - 3 decommits including 1 5 star and 2 4 stars.
Long way to signing day.

Ya, that’s what I’m talking about. I feel ok with the guys that we have in 2023, as they want to play with Malachi, but 2022 better have some gems at the end. I’m hopefull for Dindy, but it’s been quiet. Losing Burden hurts, but I really don’t blame him. I can’t blame Shettron either. Hopefully we can flip a couple WR in 2022. It’s a talented room with some really talented guys coming in 2023, but still need some numbers for 2022

To many it is not a reality until the move actually takes place. I have no doubt that the SEC will continue to evolve into a bit more offensive league (Like LSU and Alabama the last two years)and Oklahoma will develop a bit more defensively. The defensive recruiting will pick up for them when there is a definite date as to when they will begin the SEC schedule. I am excited about what Oklahoma brings to the table.

Do they recruit at all in OK, or do they have weak high school sports, and have to bum off other states?

They have a really good pipeline to the West with Nevada and California. Oklahoma HS football is really hit and miss.

Alabama has been flipping OU players like crazy the last two recruiting classes, look for that to continue.

An OKC radio station speaking favorably about Oklahoma? Shocking, to say the least.

We have to recruit out of state, to small of a population here. The state will produce a handful of four star recruits and the occasional 5 star. There are more high school football players in the city of Houston than there are the state of Oklahoma. The same can probably be said about Atlanta. Our defensive recruiting has picked up since Grinch was hired. The year you guys beat us in the playoffs, we were the #115 ranked defense! I think last year we were ranked #29, which is much better. In my opinion, our offense this year has a chance to be better than our 2017 offense. I’m hoping that we’ll be a much more complete team.

That's a great write up

Small state first of all, but good football is played here at the HS level. OU usually picks off the top 2 or 3 in the state, and oSu picks up the rest they want, so oSu ends up with more players from OK.
The Shettron flip from OU to oSu is not something that usually happens.

Hey, Oklahoma, it's only August of 2021.

Exactly. 2023 class folks. Get excited about this in over a year from now. I think Ags have #3 Class for 2023 and this matters NONE at this point.
Freaking OU and Sips. Already acting like they are part of the elite club.
