What are LSU fans hearing? I saw an article from the Times-Picayune saying he was a "silent commit." That frick is that about?

LSU and Bama make themselves "Believe" that every uncommitted top notch 5star recruit in America is a Silent Commit.

In the Times Picayune? I don't care if it's true or not, it's embarrassing for a newspaper to write that.

I'd link the article, but I'm too lazy. There were a lot of wtf comments in it, though. I was just curious what the fan base was being told.

Silent commit? Wow I don't think I've read that before. If any tiger fan thinks that then they are misinformed. Maybe we are in his top three, but I don't have a clue. Never thought we would get him, probably ole miss
Eta: Just read the article. We don't have a silent commitment from him right now. Article said he gave us one a week before he committed to Clemson. I don't necessarily believe it but that's what it said

LSU, Ole Miss leading pack for No. 1 recruit Robert Nkemdiche
December 11th, 2012 4:03PM
Some players’ recruitments warrant updates without breaking news. The nation’s No. 1 prospect, 6-foot-5, 270-pound defensive end Robert Nkemdiche, is one such prospect. After a recent visit with LSU defensive line coach Brick Haley, the race to secure Nkemdiche’s signature is starting to shape up as a two-team race.
LSU and Ole Miss are in a fierce battle with Clemson and Alabama on the outside looking in for the Grayson High School standout. Haley’s visit to Loganville, Ga., went really well, according to all sides, but LSU still has work to do. There have been whispers that Nkemdiche’s mother wants him to attend Ole Miss and play with his brother, Denzel Nkemdiche, a linebacker for the Rebels.
While sources at LSU feel that they are a strong player, they also know that developing more rapport with Nkemdiche’s mother will be vital if they are going to get his signature National Signing Day.
James Smith’s take:
Prior to his commitment to Clemson earlier in the year, Nkemdiche had given LSU a “silent commitment,” according to sources. Within a week, though, he committed to Clemson, leaving the coaches at LSU stunned.
While it was known that Nkemdiche’s Clemson commitment was shaky at best, LSU also knew it had plenty of more work to do.
This situation feels eerily similar to the Landon Collins situation last year where the Dutchtown star picked Alabama over LSU despite his mother’s objection to the decision.
Nkemdiche’s mother has been speaking with Ole Miss coaches regularly; she has not had many discussions with LSU’s staff. It is still an uphill battle, but if LSU can make progress with Nkemdiche, like it did with North Carolina defensive tackle Greg Gilmore and his mother, then LSU just might pull it out.

It was funny when delusional gumps like yourself were all saying bama lock last summer. But now most of you act like he never was going to bama
It's also lolz worthy to say its "delusional" to feel that lsu has a chance.

I in no way feel as good about RN as I did a month ago. Not that he has said anything but something doesn't smell right. He has told his brother that he is all Ole Miss but the date he told him that he was comitting keeps getting pushed back. I want to think he wants to make a splash with his comittment and can't because Denzel let the cat out of the bag, but I'm scared as shite he ends up at Alabama with Tony Connor.

Tony and Robert are getting to be close but think about how that works for Ole Miss. Most recruits want attention and the top overall recruits expect it and deserve it. If you play cards what is the fun in showing your hand? Recruiting is a game. They are playing the game. Nothing is set but I like our chances with RN and TC.

Last summer almost everyone who followed recruiting thought he would end up at Bama, so Bama fans were not delusional for thinking he would end up in crimson.
An LSU fan thinking they're in the drivers seat for Nkemdiche is pretty delusional though.

247 is saying that if is delusion, but stay in constant contact! Unless they can make up ground on momma, he is all but Ole miss bound with us and Bama in the backseat!

Nothing, he's not coming to LSU, they know that. Bryce Brown/Tyrelle Pryor/Clowney part 4. They all mention LSU, but never really seriously are considering them. I am LSU fan, so no not all LSU fans are deluded.

It definitely is. If you read our recruiting board (at least the regular posters, not the influx of tards that come when the season finishes) you'd see that the writer who stated that is not taken very seriously and is pretty much considered a joke.
ETA: I haven't seen too many LSU fans that think the story is true, or that we are the kids leader. I think this is more about the author trying to generate more readership.
