re: HOA notice for being a baw

I have two young boys, and the social aspect for them outweighed my wants. In due time. And for the record, I never bitched about it. Even said as much earlier in the thread. I can still be frustrated.

That’s wild. I assume y’all went back to business as usual with the dove hunt?

I suppose they’re just citing “public safety” because dead animal on display and scary bow and arrow. :dunno:

They mentioned that spraying the blood off the driveway that goes to the storm drain is a hazard. I mean I guess?

We will refer to my archery equipment as “tools” henceforth.

Yeah I have. They’re operating on generalities. No, there is no specific language in it that addresses archery or wild game processing.

I got one of the trailer hitch attachments (no trees). It’s fantastic. Granted, based on the timeline the complaint was made, the ten point that was hanging from it probably did get more attention than the ones I’ve just laid across the tailgate. But again, if you have a problem, just come talk to me :dunno:

The more I’ve pondered the whole ordeal, what really bothers me is that whoever it was that complained never thought to just come talk to me. They have valid complaints. I’m not disputing that. I just hate the anonymity of it, and the going to the board about it. I would’ve happily had a conversation with whoever it was that said something. Would I have changed their mind? Probably not, but people don’t know how to talk to each other anymore.

I typically gut it in the field and process the rest at home. I do everything myself and haven’t used a processor of any kind in years. I do it all at home.

Don’t get it twisted, I’ve got a couple boards to replace too.

But even on a straight up arrant arrow, everything beyond my target is an embankment with no dwelling beyond that. It’s nothing but private property farmland.

Technically, yeah I could wait til the wee hours of the night, but I don’t want to do that. I had a good run. Time to come up with a new method/location.

There’s a pretty decent 3d range not far from the house I can start going to as well.

Are you really surprised by this?

Oh absolutely not.

Would it be that hard to clean it in the backyard?

Physically, no. But there would be no way I wouldn’t be seen.

Sounds like the best plan

It was a ten year plan. Might be a 3 year plan now.

FWIW I agree with you. I’m kinda shocked it took this long for someone to complain.

HOA notice for being a baw

I’ve lived in this neighborhood in Williamson Co. TN since 2020. I shoot my bow a lot and have no one living behind me. I’m incredibly safe with where I setup to shoot. I got a letter this morning saying that they’ve shutoff standing on the sidewalk where I get my 30 yard pin work in and have to stay in my yard. That sucks. But what they really didn’t like was me skinning deer in my driveway using my receiver hitch and tarp to do so. This isn’t a new thing. I’ve killed several deer and turkeys over the last few years and have very limited space to process them. My driveway is the most efficient place to do it. I have no doubt that one of the California transplants complained. This may expedite moving to a farm. FTR the bylaws do not address deer processing specifically. I imagine they’re going to add it. :banghead:

Any of y’all had to deal with anything like this?

For you boys that like to travel, I’ve joined back up with an outfit I was with years ago. Should be a lot of fun. They lease land in Kansas, Missouri, and Iowa. There’s an online reservation system.

That’s very interesting. What’s the cost look like?

Thanks, man. I was incredibly fortunate! First time I’ve actually tagged out solely with a bow. It’s never easy!

Yes. Both can be true.
