At what point do the $$$ donors see Jimbo as a liability and cut bait from him?

At some point these folks want to see real returns on their investment.

With some big recruits staying today rather than going to 8&4 this can’t be setting well with the $$.

He’s going to have to start putting real skins on the wall - and I don’t mean beating LSU to go 8&4. With the resources being expended they are going to want SEC Champ and more.

I just don’t see Jimbo getting A&M where they think they should.

I’m going to say he goes 8&4 again this year he’s seen more of a liability and they cut bait and get him out there.

Sooner or later all the $$ on the world won’t lure top guys to that program with all the weirdness that surrounds it in which a recruit/player has to pretend to be down with.

I just can’t see them cutting bait. They are on the hook for like $72 million if they do.

Why would you want that?

They're not going to stop spending so they're always gonna have good recruiting classes. The last thing we want is a competent coach in college station.

I for one hope jimbo continues to do just enough to ride that contract out.

I don’t think it matters who the coach is over there.

There is an inherent weirdness that oozes with that school. Recruits and players now have to turn a blind eye and pretend that they are down with it all. When you know they know they are really and odd bunch.

I’m convinced they’ll never win no matter who they hire. Jimbo, Sumlin, Mike Sherman, Bear Bryant, and John Chavis have all coached there and have not had anywhere near the success they’ve enjoyed at other stops. It’s A&M and their weirdness that keeps them from winning.

It’s July.

It’s not December. What if Yimbo pulls a great season right out of his arse and this splash vs big fish thing is a distant memory?

There’s way more to it than this summer and you don’t know what happens game to game.

That said, I hope he goes 9-3 and he stays like miles did even though we knew it was well beyond over.

When the absurd buy out isn’t so ridiculous.

In the history of college football there have always been mediocre teams who really never do anything despite resources.

Texas and Texas A&M are in that group.

I think they already know what they have. A good recruiter who typically underachieves given the talent he recruits.

They just can’t afford his buyout yet. As soon as they can I think he’s gone

Huge mistake was signing Dumbo to an extension for 10years. That was an absolutely ridiculous decision.

They could put that up easily, but if I was the university president i wouldn’t want that look, I’d rather suffer for a couple more years and shite can him when it’s down to a reasonable amount.

This is his last year barring an unrealistically successful year

Where they think they belong ………. They’ve never been. So why make another change. They is who they is……

So give him one more year. The number goes down to like $60 million and it’s plausible and expected that SEC donors cover that if the coach isn’t to par, as bad football costs more than any buyout

He's there for 3 more years, including this one. Even if they fall flat on their face, do you really think theyre going to spend 70 million to fire him on top of the 100 million it will take to hire a top tier coach that they are going to want ?

I don't care how much money their fanbase thinks they have, no one has money like that to throw around. Now in 3 years when the cost is 30 million dollars less, possibly.

It will cost 77 million AFTER this season, 68 million in 2024 and 58 in 2025, just to fire him. They are stuck with him for the foreseeable future. No team is rich enough to bear that. They would be paying nearly their entire football revenue on the buyout/new coach.

My deepest hope is that the year they finally can afford to fire him, he has a fluke run to the playoff and they give him another big contract like the dumbasses they are.

Only correct answer. They'll never stop contributing to the NIL fund though. They'll reason it to filling the cupboards for the replacement. Reality is, the billionaires have the type of money they can throw away gobs of it whimsically all based on one principle, hope. Only to be able to brag. It's really what college football is all about. Only the metrics each program measure hope by are different.

This thread reeks of desperation. We are probably getting a top 5 class this year. Jimbo has proven he can win a title. Your coach has not. Kelly has yet to beat Jimbo. And Kelly has proven time after time that he cannot win the big game.

You better hope Jimbo doesn’t put it all together because if our worst team in years can make your team look like a high school team, what is going to happen if he does?
