quote:did this matter for all the other aging sluggers? I do average, (MAYBE OPS), HR, and RBIs… or W-L, ERA, strikeouts, and saves. Not whatever the frick WAR is
No positional value
Maybe I’m stuck in the 90s for thinking 500 HRs = the HOF

So I’ve been watching the World Cup for the last 45 minutes. It’s so boring. They kick the ball back and forth for twenty minutes, then it looks like something will happen. Nothing happens. Then they kick the ball around again. I don’t get soccer.
Portugal-Colombia was anything but boring… like 34 combined shots and some great saves to keep it 0-0. It felt like a goal was coming the whole match even though it didn’t

Jose Alvarado signs 3/14 with the Knicks…
Knicks also resigned Mo Diawara who might be their secret weapon for them next year.
James Dolan said they didn’t want to get into the second apron but their front office is pushing for it to bring back Landry Shamet and Mitchell Robinson.
Mitch has been linked to offers by the Lakers and Nets… if Knicks don’t go into the second apron their offer won’t compete with other teams who will offer the full MLE

Are pussies and I’m tired of the crying. For those that don’t know, they have to stay in Tijuana Mexico for security reasons.
They’re the only team in the World Cup that has to. That’s a big disadvantage
I mean, we could have just not started a war against them, and then there wouldn’t be these issues

don’t understand how people think Algeria can afford to lose that game on purpose and still get in.

Basketball: can really only be played by a select few people of certain heights outside of a few skilled individuals of shorter (by basketball standard heights) Baseball: probably will hold steady although the Latin Americans are taking over that sport Hockey is Canadian
Just like we’re trying to limit soccer to middle class broccoliheads…

Ohio State AD Russ Bjork says OSU will have a $500 Million Athletics Budget "very soon"by Nice TryThe NFL Salary Cap for 2026 is $301 Million. Ohio State is also doing a $125 Million upgrade to their Football Facilities. Granted it's an Athletic Budget, but you know most of it is going towards football. Holy Amateur Sports Batman !
What does the athletic budget have to do with how much the players should get?

I liken it to the MLB expanding in the 90’s and not taking into account the amount of transplants were in cities like Tampa. People moved there already being life long fans of the Yankees or Mets. There’s a ton of people from Louisiana here but no ones switching to the Texans from the Saints just because they’re local.
The idea is their kids will make that switch…

No… China needs 1, Australia/NZ needs 1, England/GB/Ireland needs 1. I’m 40. I may or may not live to see another US World Cup
But with that being said, the bigger the tournament, the more chance it’s hosted in the U.S. They’ll want stadiums decked out like we have here and few countries can swing that.
