These are the Top 10 states with the most amount of players on the On3's Top 300 players list:

1. Texas - 59
2. Georgia - 38
3. Florida - 29
4. California - 28
5. Alabama - 13
6. Maryland - 10
t7. Mississippi - 9
t7. Ohio - 9
9. North Carolina - 8
10. Pennsylvania - 7

Seven of the 10 states can be found below the Mason-Dixon line with six of the 10 being considered part of the South. This is why only one school outside of the ACC/SEC footprint has won a national championship since 2006.

It’s a down year for Louisiana.

Understatement, LA had 15 in 2023 class and 13 in 2022 class. 5 is almost a joke

If Mizzou could routinely lock down even half of its in-state talent, they'd be a perennial top-25 squad. Sure, it's easy to say there are only seven top 300 players, but we don't share the state with any other FBS programs, let alone any other P5 programs.

Is this a "Missouri isn't SEC" thing, or did you just forget to list that state as tied for 10th?

Its weird how years roll like that. In travel baseball in our area like certain age groups have tons of kids try out and super strong team and my sons age group they max out at like 15 kids trying out and the teams not as strong. Its like people took a year off from making good babies. With that said, theyll be some diamonds out of the boot. There always is

Regardless, everyone knows the top talent comes from the south and the population is shifting even more that way constantly.

Per capita numbers would be interesting for sure. Alabama and Mississippi has a fraction of the population of the states listed above them.

It's almost like the rankings aren't always accurate.

Freeze is going to get a good chunk of those 13 out of Alabama.

It’s crazy California doesn’t produce more talented players than Georgia

You also have to remember, both 20 and 21 were more disrupted for California so that will likely affect development. Of course, all these kids are being sent off wherever their parents can find the most money. Gotta pay for all that special training.

Those are becoming more and more frequent. What's that about?

Louisiana not even registering in the top 10 states seems like more than a down year.

It’s just a down year but Louisiana is up to 7 top 300 players now.

Evaluations have been slow for whatever reason

Dominick McKinley went from a 3 star to a top 20 player nationally

Similar thing with Wardell Mack

Best football in the country is in Georgia & Florida. The Georgia vs. Florida high school All Star game is stacked with the best talent in the country.
