Just going to ignore your dumb analogy and incorrect information in the previous post?

Holstein could have competed with Howard for the starting job. He didn't. He moved across the state to a powerhouse with athletes all over the field (except at quarterback).

Howard had LSU and Alabama offers as a backup, Holstein could have gone the same route. He didn't. Pretty simple.

No.

Ricks left for a better opportunity. Holstein did the same.

You know his family's job situation? As you said, he moved across the state. If he left the school for the sole reason of not wanting to compete, why didn't they stay in Lafayette?

A million other factors could have initiated this move. You, and every other LSU fan in this thread, are making assumptions to make your guy look better.

Pretty simple.

ETA: I'm not advocating for Holstein either. I think Alabama signs Arch, but to say a 15 year old kid ran away from competition without having 1st hand information about the situation is fricking ridiculous.

Howard (After winning a state title the year before) broke his leg, missed time in the regular season, and still played in the playoffs, leading his team to the semi finals, on a broken leg.
Why did that thing never heal?

Moving the goalposts. You tried to equate an All American corner leaving a program who was struggling for a better one to a quarterback leaving his highschool because he wasn't going to win the starting job against one other guy.

to play for a 5A power with talent all around him. Where was he going to go? 1A westminster? or Carencro where they run the veer? or 2A lafayette christian? He went to a 5A powerhouse with an opening at quarterback because he didn't want to risk losing the job to Howard. There's nothing wrong with that, but it's what he did.

Also, word is they didn't move across the state. They were bringing him to Zachary from lafayette.

Because it's blatantly obvious after his older brother was getting outshined by Howard, who was 2 years younger than him.

He kept trying to play through it. I think he came back in about 4 weeks?

If you watch the highlights from the playoff game they lost, he could barely walk, but still threw for a few scores.

It makes me laugh that people say he ran away from competition. No, he made a business decision to go play football and not sit behind an established 5 star QB. I know everybody thinks of it from a fan perspective, but he could’ve stayed and played one year of high school football, and not have all the offers he does now, or he could go transfer and play and have scholarship offers from schools all over the country. If he was scared of competition he wouldn’t be considering the schools he is

I guess it just depends how you look at it. Saban actually likes the fact that he is winning championships at the highest level in Louisiana high school and playing with and against the best the state has to offer. Will be used to playing with playmakers and winning

And he is going to Bama. Was there again this past weekend

Alabama leads for both Holstein and Manning according to On3's RPM (Crystal Ball) metrics.

Will be interesting to see how long Alabama waits on Arch before deciding to take Eli and move on.

Well Saban has told Holstein he is number 1 on their list, above Arch

Honestly should move on Holstein now. He's better than Manning.

Doesnt bama know that he is literally petrified of Walker Howard and is making major life decisions based solely on Walker?

Looks like these are his new top schools

The Gators are one of several programs Holstein is considering alongside the likes of Alabama, Miami, Stanford and Oregon.

Seeing that list of schools, really hope Bama gets Arch & we can sneak in here. Not sure what other good options UF has left at QB for 23

It sounded like he really enjoyed his visit and likes Napier

I saw that he knew Napier from when he recruited his brother to UL, which makes me think we’re a good & distant #2 behind Bama. His brother did end up signing with Louisiana Tech though

Howard, Holstein, Manning in that order from LA. QBs the last 2yrs, but Manning will get all the buzz

Wrong...

Holstein, Manning and then Walker as LA QB recruits. Just wait and see. Walker is good but not as good as the others.

I don't think there's anything wrong with a kid realizing that one school has a potentially good QB and that his chances at playing would be likely somewhere else. It's not always about chasing competition sometimes you have to think and make wise choices based on the eligibility you have
