I'd like to sit down and ask Saban what he likes in his OLBs.
From the surface, it looks like he prefers really compact, powerful guys there and will give up some ability of them being able to stand up with complete effectiveness.
They obviously value a more well rounded OLB at SAM, like his teacher, Belichick, and the Ryan family. I like that we'll see more of a pure passrusher there this year, rather than Reamer, Williams and Harris. Harris flashed it, but never was a backfield terror.

Also wow on Cleveland, makes me feel sad for Trent because I have to think they will misuse or under utilize him rather, but for Trey's sake I really hope they don't b/c he will be a very good exciting player

I don't think they'll misuse him, they have 2 figureheads that have had bellcow back before. Shurmur had Steven Jackson, Holmgren had Ahmad Green and Shaun Alexander.
Receiver is a deep class this year, someone like Chris Givens would be great there. He's been compared to Mike Wallace, and can flip from the slot to flanker like Antonio Brown.
Plus Trent gets to have the Owen Marecic blocking for him...

I hate to say it but Marecic is a bum. Vickers was the best in the league. I have no idea why they cut him.

It was sort of tongue in cheek, as much as they hyped him for being a 2 way player. It's cool, but they acted like everyone should know who he is.
I do remember Vickers being an elite FB(he was like 90+ on Madden at one point), then, as you said, they just cut him. I never really looked into it, I just assume it might have been a contract thing. Don't really want to have a lot money in the position, ans is probably one of the top to go when you need to slim the roster.

I think i'm saddest to see Barron go out of all of our guys this year. Just an all around bad arse, 4 year guy. Could have left last year but decided to come back. I'm gonna miss him and really all of the guys

LSU fans have an irrational hatred of him. That's pretty much all you need to know.
