I'm right on time then. Just spoke to a friend in Batesville(former SP player still connected) who tells me that if Conner goes to Ole Miss, it will be more about Landon Collins than the 'ole miss pipeline'. Conner likes UA a lot, but he wants to play early. Our depth is our big enemy in this battle. I think he liked us more before we landed LC. We are still a major player though

Then we need to sell Connor on playing nickel back as a frosh like we did LC. Not saying either one will, but that should be our pitch.

Not all players are as receptive to waiting as LC and HaHa were. You're looking at Vinnie, LC and HaHa over him until they leave. Tough sell. But we'll try

Adam Shefter just said he expects Tampa Bay to pick Mark Barron at #7.

Oh shite. That should have some Bulldog fans shaking their heads.

Hopefully Connor and Tray Matthews saw that watch Barron was wearing

It sucks we have so many highly rated kids at safety scaring away those kids.
What the frick am I saying? That's badass.

There's atleast 2 other safeties I'd rather have than Matthews, but I wouldnt mind taking him.

@tommydeas: By my count, Poe is the fifth first-round defensive lineman coached by Mike DuBose and 10th taken in first four rounds

I don't necessarily want Matthews, but if we can flip him that will only increase our presence in Georgia, which is quickly becoming the best high school football state in the country.
ETA: I'm serious. In 5 years I think Georgia will surpass Florida, Texas, and California in terms of individual football talent.

As a lifetime GA resident(minus 5.5 years in Ttown), I definitely agree. The other day someone told me that metro ATL has more residents than the entire state of AL i was shocked. For some reason I had no idea.

Well 3 of the Top 10 players in the 2013 class (using 24/7) are from Georgia. I sure am glad Saban made Georgia a priority from Day 1.

I have a feeling he intented it more to be a safety picked in the draft, rather than an UA safety picked in the draft.
Is he in Ttown this weekend?

I don't know if he is visiting or not.
I actually don't think he is very good, but that is just my opinion.

I agree, and this is pretty much what I posted in the UGArecruiting thread. When you factor in the level we're recruiting the safety position at he's not one I want. There's 3 safeties I want in this class and he isnt one. There's even more in the 2014 class that have a much higer ceiling and favor us.
Matthews reminds me a lot of current UGA safety Rambo. Tons of hype, but has amounted to nothing.
It wouldnt be a bad thing for us to pass on a safety this year and get an elite one in 2014

Doesn't look like Upshaw's going in the 1st round. Last 3 teams are all stacked on the D-line. There have been 5-6 guys similar to Upshaw drafted already. I think he made a mistake by adding size since the season ended. I think he would have gone a lot higher if he had been ~265 at the combine and pro day. Sucks because he'll probably get drafted by a shitty team early 2nd round. Would've also been nice to sell the fact that our Jack LB was drafted in 1st round to the numerous Jack LB recruits out there this year.

Considering we haven't landed a prototypical Jack yet, I don't think Upshaw not going in the first round will hurt. We need to get a guy that is 6'5" 260 lbs and athletic and see what he can do. Hopefully Nkemdiche is that guy.
