Per Greg Biggins of Scout:

quote:

"Bateman, out of respect for the other schools he has visited, didn't want to name any favorites or say one visit was better than the others. Saying that, I definitely got the vibe that Alabama could be the team to beat right now. I probably could have written a whole story on just his visit alone, and he talked in almost reverent terms when speaking about Saban."

From Kipp Adams:
I spoke to Reuben today and he said he has yet to decide where he will play HS next year, and when I asked about his age, he said he just turned 18 for what its worth. If he was 19 before May 1, he could not play in Georgia. or in Alabama (August 1), but he could play in Florida (up to 19 ys, 9 months old).

Pair of sophomores from Tallahassee (Fla) Godby high school coming to A-day: Safety Deion Singleton and LB Kris Harris.

Sending Jimbo a message maybe?

I disagree. He had similar things to say about all his stops, but I'm giving you permission to keep fapping along.

I think I'll ignore this based on that sentence alone. What a joke.

He might have out of respect since he is a polite kid, but Bama made a major impact on him. We are now the team to beat.

Alabama showing interest in another QB:

quote:

6'1 207-pound Quarterback John Wolford is making a name for himself and major college programs are starting to take notice. One of the top signal callers in the Sunshine state should receive his first verbal offers during next month's Spring evaluation period.

John Wolford checks in at 6'1 and 207-pounds from Jacksonville (FL) Bishop Kenny High School and if the school sounds familiar it should. It happens to be the same high school where wide receiver Ahmad Fulwood plays. Wolford's recruitment is about to take off and he talked to Scout.com about that and more.

"No offers yet but lots of schools are interested. I would say Alabama and Arkansas have been the most interested lately, especially Alabama. They invited me up for their junior day back in February and I was one of the few Sophomores invited. I got to spend allot of time with coach Saban and spent an hour with coach Nussmeier the quarterback coach. Coach Cinkovich from Arkansas has been talking with me a lot. Vanderbilt, Mississippi State and Tennessee's coaches have been contacting me a lot too. North Carolina, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Purdue, Iowa, Rutgers, UCONN, BC are some schools up north that have been very interested in me."

Where do the Gators stand for Wolford?

"I think Coach Muschamp is great and I am very interested in Coach Pease. I love what he did with Kellen Moore at Boise State. One of my best friends Ahmad Fulwood just verbally committed to Florida so that is really cool. Right now I am 6'1 without shoes on and weigh 207. I am still growing and my pediatrician thinks I will end up 6'2 or 6'3 by the time I finish high school. My dad is 6'6 and my brother is 6'3 and will be playing linebacker at B.C. next fall. I also have an uncle who is 6'5" and played in the NFL so I still have some growing to do. My coach thinks I will start getting offers next month during spring football and over the summer."

quote:

Scout.com Biography:

2011 stats:: Wolford passed for 2,669 yards with 35 touchdowns and only three interceptions. He completed 63-percent of his passes. He also had 71 carries for 551 yards and eight touchdowns.

2010: Wolford had 1,800 yards passing with a 69-percent completion rate with 20 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He added 700 yards rushing with eight touchdowns.

It's hard to believe that A-Day is almost upon us. It really doesn't seem that long ago that the Crimson Tide was hoisting the crystal ball in New Orleans. But it's here, and the list of top-flight recruits scheduled to be on hand is impressive.

Several of the top recruits from the Southeast and the nation have told TideSports.com that they plan on being in Tuscaloosa for the University of Alabama's annual spring game. **Please remember this is not an exhaustive list and can change at any time.**

Four-star Rivals100 wide receiver Robert Foster will be on hand to watch the Alabama offense go through the paces. The 6-foot-3, 170-pounder from Monaca, Penn., visited Ohio State last weekend.

Quarterback is a position of need in this class and three of the nation's best will be in Tuscaloosa on Saturday. Riley Ferguson, Connor Mitch and Mitch Trubisky all told TideSports.com they are attending A-Day. Mitch has visited campus twice already, once for the Nov. 5 LSU game and once for Junior Day. 2014 quarterback from Ashville High School E.J. Moss will also be in Tuscaloosa.

Rivals100 defensive end DeMarcus Walker told TideSports.com and tweeted on Tuesday that he was headed to Tuscaloosa this weekend. The 6-foot-4, 255-pound Jacksonville product is a Florida lean at this point, but getting him in Bryant-Denny Stadium to a nearly packed house will at least give him something to think about.

Potential 2014 five-star athlete Bo Scarbrough will be in house again. Living in Tuscaloosa gives him ample opportunity to visit campus and Scarbrough has taken advantage of it, developing a close relationship with several coaches and players at UA.

Walker Jones, brother of Tide players Barrett and Harrison Jones, will be making the drive from Cordova, Tenn. to Tuscaloosa. Of course, he is more than familiar with the Alabama program, but it's important to keep him coming back.

Georgia athlete Alvin Kamara spent last week in Tuscaloosa learning about the Crimson Tide program, but that isn't stopping him from seriously considering making a return trip from A-Day. He told TideSports.com that it's not a definite that he'll be there, but that it's looking like he will.

Fort Walton Beach, Fla., defensive back John Marvin is hoping for an Alabama offer and will visit on Saturday as will Columbus, Ga., wide receiver Marqui Hawkins.

Three-star Miami corner back Leroy Clark told TideSports.com that he will make the trip to Tuscaloosa to see how he would potentially fit in on the Crimson Tide's defense.

A slew of Mobile-area recruits are headed to Tuscaloosa including 2015 running back Demetrice Vaughan, Spanish Fort teammates Deon Johnson and Johnny Cook. Vigor's Devin Adams, DeShaun Davis, Rodney Stafford, Justin Mosley and Justin Thornton are also planning to be there.

Alabama 2012 commitments Darren Lake, Kenyan Drake and Geno Smith all told TideSports.com they were coming. The 2013 class is representing too with Altee Tenpenny, ArDarius Stewart[/db], Grant Hill and Bradley Bozeman joining the festivities.

Whats with the Bama A?

This came from some poster on BOL. Never seen him before, so a big TIFWIW

quote:

I have no delusions of being an insider but I do have some info on two 4 star recruits ya'll might want to hear. 1. Brendan Langley ----My boss has kids that play at Kell High School in Marietta. I asked him if he had heard anything. He said he is "Going to Bama". He is playing the recruiting game and enjoying it. I have no reason to not believe him because he is a Clemson grad and I think they are in his top 3 and I'm sure he gave Brendan his best pitch. 2. Trae Williams --- His 1st cousin's daughter has played on my daughter's soccer team for 2 years. I see the parents at soccer games on Saturday's and I am usually wearing a Bama shirt or cap. Well they say "Roll Tide" and we start a conversation. They tell me their nephew is a 10th grader in the Mobile area and is very good and getting offers from all over the country. Turns out it is Trae. I find out who Trae is and then begin talking to them about him. They say he is really enjoying all the recruiting trips but is a lifelong Alabama fan and will probably go to Alabama. He is a cousin of Sherman Williams as well. They said he just had a birthday party and he had on a Bama hat, LSU shirt, and ate an Auburn cake. They did tell me that Auburn was being extremely aggressive without going into detail (girls, gifts, etc.), but in the end he will say Roll Tide.

TideNation recruiting writer Greg Ostendorf brings you another edition of The O-zone, a confidential look inside Alabama recruiting. Get the latest updates from the gridiron and the hardwood as it pertains to the Crimson Tide.

In this week’s update:
Is Bama on top for Bosa?
A possible A-Day commitment
Tide legacy visiting Saturday
Hoops target to sign this week
And more ...
Bosa high on the Tide

It’s no surprise that Alabama is high on the list for ESPN 150 defensive end Joey Bosa. He recently put out a top five of Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Ohio State and Wisconsin. However, are the Crimson Tide the team to beat? According to John O’Korn, his best friend and teammate at St. Thomas Aquinas, Bosa recently told him that he was highest on Alabama. Bosa is currently on a trip up north, visiting Big Ten schools Michigan, Ohio State and Wisconsin. What could make his recruitment interesting is where O’Korn winds up. The Florida quarterback says he and Bosa would love to play together at the next level, and Alabama is one of the only schools both recruits are seriously considering. O’Korn doesn’t have an offer from the Tide yet, but the UA staff was very impressed when he visited recently.

Bateman returning for camp

When No. 1 quarterback Max Browne committed to USC last week, Alabama had to go to Plan B. The next best option may be Utah signal-caller Cooper Bateman, an ESPN 150 quarterback who visited Tuscaloosa last week. For more on his visit, click here. However, even if Bateman wanted to commit to the Crimson Tide, he would have to wait until coach Nick Saban sees him throw in person. For that reason, Bateman is already planning to make a return trip to Alabama in June to throw in the Tide’s camp. Another trip to T-town would go a long way and show how interested Bateman really is in becoming the next quarterback at Alabama.

A-Day commitments

Every year, Alabama seems to land at least one or two commitments the weekend of A-Day. This year should be no different. A number of high-profile recruits will be in town for the Crimson Tide’s spring game, but who is most likely to commit? One name to keep an eye on is Georgia running back Alvin Kamara. The all-purpose back spent all of last week in Tuscaloosa where he watched practice, met with the coaching staff and got an overall feel for the campus. However, Kamara may visit Athens this weekend, instead, for Georgia’s spring game. The Dawgs has been on a roll in recruiting lately, and whichever school Kamara decides to visit this weekend may be the school that ultimately lands his commitment.

Kamara on his visit to Alabama: “It went well. I really enjoyed getting to sit in on the running backs meetings and talking one-on-one with Coach [Burton] Burns, Coach Saban and Coach [Kirby] Smart. I felt comfortable on campus and got a good feel for how a normal day outside of football would be.”

Another possible commitment: ATH Jason Smith of Mobile, Ala. (McGill-Toolen)

Bama legacy taking visits

Another 2013 prospect who will be on campus for A-Day is Cordova, Tenn., linebacker Walker Jones, the younger brother of current Alabama teammates Barrett and Harrison Jones. It obviously wouldn’t be a surprise to see a commitment from Jones this weekend because of his ties to UA. However, even though he’s a huge Crimson Tide fan, Jones wants to look at all of his options and find the best fit, and he understands it may not be Alabama. He visited Mississippi State and Vanderbilt earlier this week, and he plans to visit Tennessee on Friday before driving down to Tuscaloosa on Saturday. Sources close to Jones said he is unlikely to make a decision this weekend, so Alabama will have to wait if it plans to secure a commitment from the Tide legacy.

Trouble in Starkville

I’m not sure anybody knew what kind of impact Rick Stansbury stepping down from Mississippi State would have on the basketball program. It’s now out of the running for Devonta Pollard, the best player in the state. It’s top freshman, Rodney Hood, has decided to transfer, and Gavin Ware, one of its early signees has considered looking elsewhere. The repercussions have only benefited Alabama in recruiting, and the Crimson Tide have a legitimate shot at landing Pollard, who took his official visit to UA last weekend. To see how it went, click here. If Pollard wants to go where it feels like home, Alabama now seems like the most likely destination. As for Hood, the school won’t release him to an SEC school, which takes UA out of the running. Expect Duke, Florida State, Louisville and Ohio State to be major players for the transfer.

Walker down to Gators, Tide

In addition to Pollard, the UA coaching staff is also going after Winter Haven, Fla., guard DeVon Walker in the late signing period, which begins today. Walker is expected to announce his decision Friday morning at his high school and will choose between Alabama and Florida. It was thought to be between Alabama and Florida State, but the Gators have stepped up their recruitment of Walker with the possibility of star freshman Bradley Beal turning pro. If Beal enters the NBA draft as expected, sources say Walker will more than likely choose Florida because of a desire to stay close to home. In fact, he was on the phone with Gators’ head coach Billy Donovan late Tuesday night, potentially discussing Beal’s future.
