So this Internet outcry is because an immature kid got a public intox. Gotta love posters. I'm just glad it wasn't something serious...like jaywalking.

OK. He went to a medium sized school with a bad football program in a state with relatively weak high school football competition and he won't be ready for the sec for a couple of years.

I agree that this no big deal. Immature young guy drinks too much and acted goofy in public. No biggie.
It's not like he was the ringleader of a home invasion gang...

Zeke has a lot of growing up to do, him being away from certain family members may help. He was talked to by Chizik about his actions and decisions prior to coming to Auburn and was told he needed to straighten up. I suspect he's going to get a bit of punishment from this.
This isn't a young man who is being a young man, this is someone with a history of not so smart decisions.

Is this really news? A college kid, gets drunk.
He is immature, maybe he is a steven Garcia type. I am not alarmed by this.

Certainly not news that a college kid, yea, even an athlete at that, is going to have a drink now and then.
But you've GOT to be cool about it, don't be stupid.
Don't go out in public stupid drunk if you're underage (or legal age for that matter), stay in the house and have a good time there.

Him being a college kid drinking is a secondary, minor issue. The issue is that for someone who's only been on campus for 6 months he has a reputation of being a headcase due to other issues that have occurred before this one.
For instance he's had all this happen:
- Ejected from a 7 on 7 tournament for throwing a football at a official over a bad call.
- Suspended his first game of his Senior year for being ejected in a playoff game his Junior year.
- Suspended for a playoff game his Senior year because of "violation of team rules".
- His infamous Bama hatin' twitter tirade.
Now you have an arrest on the books just 6 months into his Auburn stay.
Just not very bright given he had an opportunity to make a move at QB since from all accounts it's not solidified by any means.

He is lucky Tubs isnt HC any more. Kid would spend at least 8 games in the dog house. Probable instant Redshirt now just based on maturity. This kid had problems in HS, and has shown some Steven Garcia tendencies lately. That wont last at Auburn.

He was already going to redshirt. I just hope he makes it long enough to get interviewed after practice and games. He could give Kenny Irons a run for his title of best interviewee.

Chiz ain't gonna like this and I for one hope he teaches him a lesson.
No, Chizik knew exactly what he was getting when he signed Pike. He chose to deal with/work on the immaturity because of Pike's potential on the field.
I don't have a problem with Chizik signing him because we all did dumb crap when we were young and everybody deserves a second and maybe a third chance. But Pike was suspended twice in high school and kicked out of a recruiting camp (at least one), which shows a pattern of refusing to abide by rules and thinking you're above the law.
He could've dropped Pike from our recruiting board multiple times and pulled his scholly offer. Chizik shouldn't be shocked by this.

FTR, I think the QB spot is solidified, but due to Chizik's if-I-tell-anybody-anything-I'll-die approach with the media, you won't get an answer on it.
I'd be absolutely floored if Keihl Frazier isn't our starting QB.

Pike is a shittier and more thuggish version of Ryan Mallett.

How exactly does a 19 year old get a public intox, but not a Minor Consumption of Alcohol?
Posted on 6/25/12 at 6:07 am to GonzoLeslie
I would assume PI has harsher penalties fines etc

I wasn't aware Pike was accused of cooking meth. I'll go back and check the police report if I'm wrong.
