Yeah, we haven't really had a dumpster fire coach. Jetgate was bad though.

By no means am I a Fat Bradstard fan, but he did win Carolina's first ever bowl game. Albeit, mostly with Sparky Woods' players.

Meh, still finished.500. I've lived through worse. In particular with Orgeron as head coach.

Quin turned out not great, but just about everyone thought he was a can't miss (and he's done really well once he grew up); hell, even Kim Anderson was handed the keys to the dumpster fire and at least guided us through probation without making things worse. But this f'n guy...

In the non-Brad Scott side of the bracket, Bobby Cremins left GT, was set up for his introductory press conference, and backed out at the very last minute.

About 15 years later, we let Darin Horn take a perfectly average basketball program, and turn it into the worst job in the P5.

Nah. As much as many fans agreed with that guy, the process was pretty solid. It was a much bigger hassle trying to hire someone after Pat Dye stepped down. I seem to recall half a dozen coaches going "no thanks", and Auburn chasing some pretty unrealistic candidates. I vividly remember when we floated Dick Sheridan at NC State, and he very publicly shot it down himself in a fashion that embarrassed AU. Recall that at the time, Terry Bowden was considered a rock-bottom case of settling. He was like the kid last picked at the kickball game.

A certain freakishly mixed GumpAggie named Curley Hallman . Never hire a GumpAggie . Hire one or the other, but never both in the same man . The internal conflict is too great .

The three headed monster of Kermit Davis, Tony Barone and Melvin Watkins - back to back to back terrible hires that killed A&M basketball for 14 years:

For Georgia, we hired Glen Mason from Kansas in 1995 had a presser on Dec. 18 and he quit to go back to Kansas (that’s right Kansas football) a week later.

We also had a mess in '88.Dick Sheridan from NC State
had accepted the offer to succeed Dooley but someone in
The AD or AA leaked it to the press so he turned it down and went back to Raleigh.Erk supposedly got the offer next and turned it down and we ended up with the dumbass from Moultrie for 7 years (Ray Goff)

Ole Miss was already a dumpster fire when you hired coach O.
Yes he didn't revive it fast enough but i seem to remember Ole Miss having a pretty talented team the year after he was fired. And i remember thinking damn that sucks for him that they go 9-3 with his talent with jackass Houston Nutt at coach.

Edit: And by the way when its all said and done Hugh Freeze will be responsible for far more losses than Ed O had.

Is there anything beyond a dumpster fire? Bc that's what tennessee is experiencing right now lol. I guess complete nuclear meltdown is where the tennessee football program is right now. It's pretty bad with all of these coaches turning down the tenn job with the amount of money that's being offered. Tennessee football is done for, stick a fork in them. They will have to cheat their asses off to recover from this. Lol.

Bobby has made his peace with South Carolina. It stung more because Cremins was a great player for us under Frank McGuire. I hated him for years, but he's a good guy who made a terrible mistake in leaving GT because of an obligation he felt to his alma mater, only to immediately regret it.
