Would actually probably be very good for them in recruiting. They could go get the kids from Ohio that Ohio State doesn't want. There's a lot of HS talent in that state.

That's a pretty great idea actually. Maybe someone will mention it to Mark Stoops, from Youngstown, Ohio.

Who downvoted the notion that SEC East much better than Big10 West?
UGA>Wisc
UF>Minnesota
UT>Iowa or whomever.

Did the move to Big10 help Nebraska? Nope. You would lose your ability to recruit the south effectively. Southern kids don't want a road trip to Wiscy in November where their friends and family have not shot at making the trip. Whoever mention Ohio as furtile recruiting ground needs to realize that state is picked over by OSU, UM, MSU etc. You would have to beat all of them out. They stand a better chance at recruiting Ohio now as they offer somehting unique.

That's really what it comes down to. He's able to sell, even more so now with guys like Snell and Bowden becoming popular, that you can come play in the SEC as an Ohio kid and your family/friends are still within a short drive to see you play. You're not losing any visibility, even coming to Kentucky. And you can become a legacy if you're good enough.

Kentucky has had continued recruiting success in Southern Ohio for a good long while. (I include Northern Kentucky as Southern Ohio )

Also, B1G basketball is miserable to watch outside of maybe Michigan State and Indiana when they were good. It's like someone is actively trying to set a record for lowest number of possessions in a game.

Titties, my man, there would be no advantage to going to the B1G. As mentioned, our recruiting in the Midwest is good because we’re in the SEC.

This is where the kids want to play and we’re close to their homes. Stick to what you know:

Stoops is from Youngstown? I'm shocked. Next are you going to tell me that he went to Cardinal Mooney?

Giving Ohio kids the opportunity to play games in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, and Pennsylvania is more along the lines of where I was going with this. Playing games closer to home gives their parents more chances to watch.

Which is the same thing everyone else in the B1G is offering.

That's the point. Stoops offers something unique in a Ohio kid playing in the SEC.

WVU is somehow in the Big 12. You could just go there and do WAY better than being in the SEC or Big 10.

Or just join the ACC and finish second every other year.

I can't imagine the SEC without Kentucky. That's weird even entertaining the idea

Strictly speaking from a financial standpoint a move to the Big 10 would be silly.

Well, you would be incorrect.

SEC Still Trails Big Ten in Revenue

ETA: There are many, many reasons for Kentucky to stay right where they are but revenue is NOT one of those reasons.

Don't be trite and pretend the Big 10 is going to sustain the past three years. The athletic products are not comparable.

Also, in before the non sense that Tennessee had "illegal" spike length against Ohio State in the Citrus Bowl and Terry Porter had the courage to call the PI against Miami.

Trite? The Big Ten has had the revenue lead for quite some time. That isn't changing.

Possibly but you would have a lot harder time winning the Big 10 in basketball than the SEC.

Of course it will flip, everything is cyclical and the SEC is a better product and platform to present itself over time.

It's like Michigan fans pointing to their education being at a higher level than Ohio State as if that's some sort of comfort from losing on the football field.

It is cyclical but it's also silly to compare SEC and B1G revenue packages. They'll flip flop with the largest payouts over time as they control the largest media markets. The other conferences will be left in the dust but saying that Kentucky would be taking a financial hit by moving to the B1G is disingenuous at best. That's just for sports.

The research money and grant money the B1G brings in dwarfs that of the SEC. There's no contest in that arena. Kentucky as a university would be on stronger financial footing as a university in the B1G.

All that said, I never see a move like this happening.
