frick Texas and frick Oklahoma. We don't need them in the SEC. We've got too many teams already. Texas made their bed. They can lie in it.

maybe we could trade LSU, which hates the SEC, for Oklahoma and make everyone happy
Yeah, LSU people got some kind of complex where they hate everybody. I don't understand it. It is likely similar to a battered person syndrome. They are releasing all that pent up frustration from everything they've been through (whatever it is). And then they lash out and it makes them feel better, even excellent. Then rinse and repeat and they start the whole thing again. Over and over and over.

I think the conference is big enough as is. No more expansion

I'll bet there is nothing to this. They have it easy in the Big 12. It's an easy ticket from the committee for those schools who can claim former glory entitles them to be considered for the 4th spot.

For instance, I like the addition of aTm to the SEC. They fit in really well, IMO. I don’t hate Mizzou, but don’t feel they were the best fit. The haters will disagree. Like Sith, they speak in absolutes. So what else is new?

I mean, any game on the Longhorn Network can't be seen by 90% of the country outside of Texas, so the statement isn't false.

The addition of a&m and Mizzou was about money plain and simple, both for them and for the SEC. A&M brought the texas market (huge) and Mizzou brought St Louis and KC. So they're a big part of the reason Disney/ESPN is bidding 350 million for TV rights. I for one am glad they are in the conference

Expansion is about two things- the quality of the program and TV market size. The rest is just details to squabble over.
While Oklahoma isn’t a huge TV market, it is one of the best attainable ones left on the table. Why? The ACC and Big 10 schools are getting enough money from their TV deals to make a move to the SEC not worth the trouble for them. None of the available AAC programs is good enough for the SEC and they are all in markets already covered by the conference. The better programs and markets in VA and NC aren’t going anywhere because of the money and relationships they have. That window has closed.
Oklahoma, on the other hand, would be a new market and it does have a top 50 TV city in OKC. It also brings one household name program and and another good one with it. Other than Texas, which won’t give up its power or another Texas school, which doesn’t bring a new market in after A&M, they are all that’s really left unless another big shift occurs.
Personally, I hope the SEC stays where it is. There is no reason to expand right now and alter the balance of things further. However, if they do, Oklahoma and OSU is the only move that works today. None of the more desirable schools have a reason to leave where they are and none of the up and comers are compelling or fit a need.

Stopped reading here.
SurlyHorns is the only Texas board worth reading, and then only in small doses. Any more gets pretty toxic.

Oklahoma would being the smallest media footprint of any school to the SEC after the Mississippi schools. 3.7 million people in the state. But yes, if we can't get an ACC school in NC or VA, Oklahoma is the next best thing.

This is the real hidden mickey. Texas brings nothing to the table. A&M already makes all of Texas as part of the in-region network, regardless of whether a customer is an aggy or not. Texas fans are already paying for the SEC network now, it's part of the package with the LHN.

True. Also, both OU and OSU together, for only an additional 3.7 million people, makes no sense financially. There is no reason for the SEC to expand further right now.

Well, I would add one caveat. The SEC isn’t getting hurt by any potential moves, but there are some Out there that could put them in second place. If they sense a shakeup is coming, this is safe, strike first play.

OU would challenge Missouri every year for 4th or 5th best in the SEC
Posted on 12/30/19 at 9:24 am to FtBelvoirTiger
OU better stay where they are at. I know it's about money but they would lose at least 2 or 3 football games a year.

Conference is big enough. Don't need Okla and don't want Texas. Everyone that has ever been in a conference with them hates them. The story is they want to run everything and in the process ruin everything for the other schools.

Already have a team from Texas that says this.
We're mainly just fricking around. Our $$$ is in large part thanks to the SEC.
The fricking longhorns, down to the lowest fan, internalize their facade of gak-shooting wealth.
