Still think Crean wasn’t that bad at Indiana.
The program Cream inherited basically hogtied him and gave him no roster
- 3 Years probation
- Only 10 days off campus recruiting
- Lost 3 scholarships
- 6 Underclassmen left program
- Has to run a squeaky clean/no scandal program academically, off court and recruiting
Crean's 6 Non Probation Years
- 138-59 (70%)
- 2 Big10 Titles, (only 1 from 92-08 before Cream)
- 3 Sweet 16 (only 1 from 03-08)
Crean's last year had more to do w multiple injuries to key players than Creans coaching. IU beat both Kansas and UNC that year and 12 losses were to NCAAT at large caliber teams

Crean's a damn good coach and he is going to raise hell at Georgia.

Solid hire. As others have said, it is obvious that the SEC has finally come to realize that we can play some good bball in this league, if we have good coaching. I am glad to see it. Now some of you need to step up your equestrian game.

Good hire as long as Tom Arnold doesn't die and Hollywood calls needing his look a like

That's just dumb. What about Tom Crean's resume resembles Mark Fox's at the time he was hired?

Indiana Fired Crean because they have LSU syndrome

The coaches in this league are finally beginning to get good again. That is a nice pick-up UGA.

Crean is a another really, really solid hire.
Like a lot of these guys (Howland, Barnes, Pearl, Cuonzo) they have very, very high floors. They've been through the battles in big time college basketball and their resume shows guys who at their worst still produce solid basketball teams (I don't include Crean's first years at Indiana because he was basically coaching a D2 team).

Admittedly, except what I read in the funny
papers, I know little about Crean----but in
order to prevent this thread from becoming a
total Kumbaya circle-jerk, I submit the following
from that cornucopia of knowledge, Wikipedia,
on Crean's negatives:
*Criticized by fans and media for the amount
of turnovers his teams committed.
*Poor defense.
*Lack of team fundamentals.
*Poor instate (Indiana) recruiting.
*Large numbers of players transferring.
*"Blow-by" handshakes of opposing coaches.

The people in that state have delusions of grandeur when it comes to them still being a basketball mecca.

GenesChin bringin' tha heat. I will admit I preferred the idea of Matta over Crean, but all things being said, Crean still looks to be a homerun hire relative to UGA Basketball history. Matta just would have been a grand slam. I'm stoked about the hire, and I'm really stoked that Crean seems so excited about the gig as well.

This. I was excited about Crean potentially being the coach over the past month as his name kept coming up, and didn't even think Matta was a legit candidate until we offered. While Matta would have been an amazing hire, I'm thrilled to get Crean.

Sorry to make you look stupid on here, but...I am going to do it anyways.
Mark Fox at Nevada (final 3 years):
2006-2007 >> 29-5
2007-2008 >> 21-12
2008-2009 >> 21-13
Tom Crean at Indiana (final 3 years):
2014-2015 >> 20-14
2015-2016 >> 27-8
2016-2017 >> 18-16
Almost identical, except on was at Indiana and one was at Nevada.
So, STFU

Are you insinuating crean and fox are relative equals? Or just trying to point out the black and white records of each during that time frame? I see you also fail to mention that in those 3 years for crean he made the tourney twice, reaching the sweet 16 once, and was also named big 10 coach of the year.
