Tua didn’t do anything to help himself the last weekend before th3 vote. Kyler Murray did. Saw a program over the weekend that only 10% of Heisman voters had voted before Saturday. That doesn’t bode well after Saturday for Tua.

I don’t like Murray personally but I would give him the edge if I had a vote. Close though.

Honestly as a long time Alabama fan, I could not care less if any Alabama player wins an individual award. The important award is the team awards, and Alabama is the best at winning those.

I think individual awards are fine and all, but I agree that winning championships are better.

It is a team sport after all.

Murray. Without him OU wouldn't be in the playoffs. Bama would still be without Tua. Plus Tua's last game was bad.

This doesn't get mentioned enough; after Bama went down 21-7 & 28-14 twice, Tua helped Bama stay within 7 points at 21-14 & 28-21. Those were HUGE moments in that game!!! Bama isn't in position to comeback during 4th quarter without Tua keeping Bama within 7 points (On a hurt leg also). Tua lead Bama on 2 offensive TD's drives after trailing 21-7 & 28-14, and that means something were I come from. The facts are, Tua stepped up after Georgia opened up a 14 point lead twice and this is what Champions do, but this HUGE fact is being overlooked. Historically, no SEC team ever came back from 14 points down during SEC title game, but Tua helped beat that history. Without Bama being within 7 points in 4th quarter, Bama most likely doesn't make that historical comeback, period!!!

I'm afraid Tua having his ankle/leg hurt early in SEC title game will cost Tua the Heisman. Darn shame, Tua on a bum knee had gotten Bama back to within 7 points twice the other night. Bama goes down 3 TD's when it's 21-7 or 28-14, game over....

Bama has never beat SEC competition during regular season by 20+ in every game, and 1996 Gators (What a team) are only SEC team to beat that average win total, but Tua helped Bama do all that. What Oklahoma's QB, Murray, is doing this years seems to be done by their QB's on a yearly bases....

Should be Tua's, but he won't win it

Tua deserves it. If you put that Georgia game the same week as Kyler's Army game, no one thinks twice about it. But with recency bias over "Championship" week and horrible Big 12 defense, Kyler gets it. Compare Kyler's stats to other Big 12 QBs. They really aren't that impressive. Look at the defense Kyler just played. fricking terrible. Will Grier torched that defense worse than Kyler did.

Ironically, Tua will be the first time Alabama has actually deserved a Heisman Trophy and he won't actually win it. Lolz.

That should qualify Murray for team MVP, not necessarily the Heisman Trophy.

Murray and Haskins mean a lot more to their teams than Tua does to Bama.

This is a bogus argument. Baker took OU to the playoffs last year with near identical numbers. It’s clearly a system QB type of situation. Ohio St. is just loaded just as much as Bama and have made the playoff nearly every year.

Hurts lost the Heisman for Tua

So, if Hurts, or a quality backup, played for Oklahoma, Tua should win?

The simple reason Tua may lose the Heisman is that he had to face much better defenses down the stretch. Which made his numbers drop. Had he been able to keep playing Ole Miss level / Big 12 level defenses, this wouldn't be a discussion.

It was Tua up until the SECCG but I think Jalen leading the comeback hurts (:rimshot:) Tua's case.

The strange thing about the Heisman. It’s is that they can be turned in prior to the CCGs.

So, if enough voters turned in before the SECCG Tua wins.

But

It was proven that Alabama can win without Tua and it’s still widely thought that despite IUs abysmal defense Murray leads them to victory because he has to.

Well that's all Tua is then. Murray's numbers are better. There isn't anything that justifies giving it to Tua over Murray. Against the few good defenses he faced his efficiency dropped off alot from the weak teams. Plus he sucked it up in the championship game when it mattered.

I think Murray ends up winning it by a close margin. I did see stat that compared all 3 Heisman finalists snaps played this year. Tua had 588, Kyler 750 and Haskins over 1000 snaps. So in a way numbers are deceiving. I think with Tua having a bad game during the SEC Championship that paved the way for Kyler to win it. I think he ended up throwing for 350+ yards against Texas last Saturday.

Well at least he played a few good defenses. What do you think Tua's numbers would have been if he had played for Oklahoma? Don't get me wrong cause I think if Murray wins he deserves it. I just think Tua is getting unfairly judged on the last game where he got hurt bad early and played the rest of the game with a high ankle sprain.

Either way I will enjoy watching Murray play a good defense for the first time this year.

All 3 have valid arguments.

Tua played against better defenses, but had more talent around him.

Murray played against the worst defenses, but had to overcome his own team unable to stop anybody.

Haskins is right in between the two. Surrounded by high caliber talent but not quite Alabama level. Had a defense that wasn't stellar but not nearly as atrocious as OU's.

It might be the closest THREE-way race we've seen in a very long time. We've seen a lot of close two-player races.

It does amuse me a lot of people seem more inclined to tear down or handicap the players they want to lose rather than pumping up the one they want to win.
