Tua, for me. he had a bad game against us, but that was an unusual game...not to mention his WR's dropped several balls they should have caught.

Give it to either one. Doesn't matter to me. Both deserve it.

Yea I mean, I think Kyler probably wins and I have no problem with that. He had a great year.

They both had better passing years efficiency wise than anybody in CFB history. That's impressive and both deserve a lot of praise.

Murray. He carries his team more than Tua. Oklahoma would have more losses without Murray. Alabama wouldn’t.

Murray. You can’t give an award based on what you think Tua’s numbers might have been had he not gotten hurt. I do think Tua would have most likely won it had he not gotten hurt, but he did. Doesn’t mean Murray is a better player, just that he had a more productive overall year.

Honestly, three weeks ago, Tua, no doubt. My main problem here is I don't know how much of his wilting (relatively speaking) down the stretch was due to lingering knee issues and how much was due to facing tougher defenses and athletes. And that question won't really be answered unless he faces Clemson (or, to a lesser degree, ND, because they have a lot of talent on their D) after three weeks to let his knee heal after the surgery. Or maybe not even then, because who knows if he'll be 100% yet by then.

I still kind of like him as the favorite because OU's entire philosophy seems to be score, score, score. It's like watching one of those basketball games where teams are aiming to reach 150 points. Nobody really respects the prowess the basketball player who leads a team like that. But the numbers are still there regardless, so that's why we have this debate.

Kyler Murray. He has better stats. Tua is also basically working with an NFL offense so he doesn't have to do as much work

If Tua was the QB at Oklahoma there would literally be zero difference in their stats or record.

You don't think Tua would throw for 5 billion yards in that offense under Riley in the Big XII? Get out of here.

I really believe all 3 are very deserving. I don’t think you could justify being angry over who won, other than you being a fan of the team they play for. Virtually indistinguishable by the numbers. You can make arguments for each of them.

This is the answer.

Exactly he was a lock for the Heisman

Except he wasn’t. Otherwise we wouldn’t be talking about it.

If Tua was the OU QB then OU would be undefeated. Kyler fumbling from even the slightest touch is the reason they lost the RRS.

I agree but he’s QB at Alabama not Oklahoma. I can’t choose him because of a what if scenario. Murray carries his team and that’s all there is to it. If you want a Heisman you’re going to need to be extremely valuable to your team. Bama needed Jalen to beat Georgia and didn’t need Tua to win any game this year. He’s a great QB but Bama has so much talent that they basically just used Tua to run the scores up as they could have still won without him.

You literally said this

quote:

Oklahoma would have more losses without Murray

So Tua is penalized because he has a solid veteran QB behind him? That's just silly.

Murray plays in a loaded offense with NFL dudes on the OL and at WR and an offensive savant calling plays.......at the place that produced the Heisman Trophy winner just last season. He had a great year and should probably win (and will win), but let's not turn him into RGIII at Baylor.

I say Kyler..
I look at it like this...

Could Kyler be as successful or more in Bamas offense...YES!

Could TUA do the same in OU’s... I’m not so sure.

Hurts lost the Heisman for Tua. The "well, if player x wasn't in the game, how would the team fare"?..........we saw what would happen. Not to mention, Tua had a horrible game up until that point. Murray played a fantastic game.

Hurts is a former SECPOTY and has progressed a great deal as a passer under Enos. So because Hurts is a good player, Tua isn't deserving of the Heisman? That doesn't make sense to me.

Who was it that made that stupid award 100x more important than it actually is? For years no one cared about that award. It really is the ultimate in subjective. It does not state who's the best player, but who meant more to their team or whose system affords huge OFFENSIVE numbers. The Heisman should be put back into it's proper place. It's a nice little recognition as an MVP for one particular year, and that's it.
