With Nick Fitzgerald not playing Saturday, how much does that hurt us week 2 vs KSU?

He is suspended for a violation of team rules dating back to March. And even though Moorhead said that Fitz owned up to it and has done everything asked of him since, there are consequences regardless.

My question is this - with a new offensive system in place, Fitz won't get to get that first game chemistry going plus it's been a long time since he's played a game. He missed 95% of the Egg Bowl, the bowl game vs Louisville and now he'll miss game 1.

How much do you think this hurts MSU playing on the road vs K-State with this being Fitzgeralds first game in a while? I think it's going to hurt a lot. What say you guys?

Yep. My guess was about maybe the first quarter.

Eh not too much. It doesn't take much time for a running back to get back in the groove.

Missing snaps and being injured or suspended are never good but Fitz has enough experience to get up to speed quickly. He will be fine, K State ain't Alabama.

Wally Pipp says that missing one game is no big deal.

Hope you're right. Would hate to lose that Sig bet so early in the season.

I actually think that Keytaon Thompson might be better than Fitz.

I think the potential biggest "issue" here is what if Key Thompson absolutely goes off on SFA? Yes, it's just SFA, but what if he truly looks near perfect - like 22 for 26, 300+ yards, 3 TD, 0 INT; 10 rush, 100+ yards, 1-2 more TD rushing, has great command and makes no real mistakes.

Do you definitely go back to Nick to start the next game or maybe ride that wave into KSU?

Keytaon will definitely end up being the better QB, but Fitz’ experience outweighs the talent that KT brings to the field.

I'd personally be more worried about his ankle giving him issues than having issues jumping in week 2. He should do fine.

You may be on to something here, how much clout does Fitz have with a new coaching staff? How far did he separate himself from Thompson in practice?

This is Fitz's team. He will be the starter @ Kansas State.

If he's any good, shouldn't affect him at all. That being said I've only really watched him play against Auburn, and he doesn't seem to be any good.

Under that scenario, me personally, I ride the wave and work Fitz in some against ULaffy in week 3 before the Kentucky trip. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
