With all of the "it was only Iowa" claims I have heard

They had a better record. A lot of you have spent all year reminding the Vols fans that UT was a dead program and Butch was a farce. Leading up to the game we were told that Iowa would make short work of UT. So how all of the sudden is it "it was only Iowa?"

lol. OP, I'm willing to defend the potential TN has for 2015, but that bowl game was still a game against Iowa. They lost to MN by like 37 points or something like that.

My team beat Pitt in a bowl game 3 yrs ago, and everyone said the same thing. don't even pay attention to this board, including me when I get on a rant. be proud. its okay.

Do you see what Iowa State and Minn-ah-sohta did to Iowa this year?

It was only Iowa and anyone who thought they had a chance against UT probably didn't look at their schedule once. This was about the outcome I anticipated!

For the Vol program it is a huge win. These games may look inconsequential now but down the road you may look at this as a watershed moment in giving the Vols momentum to do great things. Just consider where you were a couple of years ago and where you are now.

Butch is an intense guy. I don't think he gives up easily. He seems to take care of things. I didn't realize the implications of beating the Vols in the 2001 SECCG. It was a watershed moment for the LSU and Tennessee programs. For us, it was great. For you, a shitty moment. But it was the rise of the LSU football program over the last fifteen years. This could be a watershed moment for Tennessee. It is all about momentum and energy and I think the Vols have that in spades right now.
