Strong is going to go to Miami if he gets the offer.
Sounds like Rich Rod to VA Tech to be announced soon

Lot of big FBS coaching jobs open, but heard today (as others have) that Virginia Tech likely will be the first to fill its vacancy.
While that tweet doesn't say it is Rich Rod, VA Tech sources are saying it is Rich Rod.
Rich went from the highly suspected name to not a candidate to name to be announced soon. Not a surprise since the Fedora stuff and others were just smokescreen while they worked out a contract deal with $4M a year for Rich Rod.

re: Why does everyone assume Herman would be HIRED by Texas?
Posted by nebraskafaninwi on 11/19/15 at 7:45 am
Herman wouldn't be the #1 choice for Texas. Having said that, they could hire Herman and they would get an immediate upgrade in recruiting abilities.
You can say good by to A&M for getting more of the top 20 kids in Texas as they would go to Texas to play for Herman.
Herman is a risk for whoever will hire him until he has more time to prove himself at Houston.
I do think the Texas job opens up if Strong gets the Miami offer.

South Carolina will be announcing that Smart is the next head coach at South Carolina in a couple of weeks. Might be right after the SEC champ game.

My only advice for South Carolina fans is not to get too upset when Smart is named as your head coach.

Strong is going to take the Miami job if he gets the offer. Take that to the bank.
That leads Texas open to put out a massive search and Herman will want that gig.

re: Charlie Strong dismisses Miami rumors

My gut feeling this is...
1) He wants the Miami job.
2) Doesn't have the offer yet.
3) Wants to put rumors to rest until the regular season is done and if he gets the offer, he leaves for Miami.
IMO, he belongs in Miami. That is where he has spent 17 years of his coaching career.

Saban: No interest in Alabama. Why would I go to that crap place for?
Alabama: We would like to announce the hire of Nick Saban.

Jesus, your AD tweet out the coaching list for you guys? If so, you have a link?

I have read it and been around this coaching thing for many years not to fall for this stuff at face value.
If South Carolina has their guy, according to that poster about the AD calling recruits, that means they likely have Smart in place already.

I'm sure LSU fans are thinking......it isn't going to happen to us because we are LSU. We are that great.

And yes I know the thinking, we can just get any head coach we want. Why wouldn't the head coaches at Clemson and FSU run to us the second we call their agents.
Good luck with that.

You fire a coach whos main struggle is simply Alabama. You fire your winningest coach that had the team ranked #2 in the nation by a committee. You fire a guy that had you playing for a national title just 4 years ago. You fire a guy with the second best record against teams in your own division.
Signed,
TN, Nebraska, Miami, Texas, PSU (they tried for 10 years to fire Joe PA), Auburn, Wisconsin (the fans ran off BB to Arky) and some others.

David Shaw is already coaching at his dream job. Take him off your list.
Otherwise your tier 1 list is a pretty normal dream list that never comes to fruition during coaching searches.
Ohio State and Alabama are the only two programs in the last many years that landed a truly proven stud head coach in a long time.
