At least beat him enough so that we don’t lose our collective minds and end up canning Mullen after year 3 or 4?
What is the WLOCP going to look like the next 3-4 years?

Part me feels this is a role reversal from the early 90s with Uga having found their Spurrier.

Thoughts from the sec rant Genius Bar?

South Carolina fans, please stay out of this thread. This a conversation between fans of real football programs.

I think Mullen is the only one of the new coaches where I have no idea how he will do.

Anything from 3-9 to 11-1 will not shock me in 2018

Won’t beat Kirby. Or Taggart. Or Richt. Or Pruitt.

On the trail no, I mean at this point kirby is at the same level with saban and meyer when it comes to recruiting so I don't see mullen keeping up.

As for in the game...I don't think we're gonna win 15 in a row but I do think the worm has turned and we are going to win more than we lose for a while.

I somewhat agree, although the 90s was one of tGOATS spurrier against goff and donnan which really should be some kind of crime. I don't think kirby is THAT elite and don't think mullen is THAT bad. But I do think the series has massively turned.

Hopefully not, Kirby seemed to have his offense figured out in Athens in September.

Should have some better athletes coming in, but I don't expect much out of him this year.

JMO but I believe Dan will have success at UF. With that said does his current roster have the type players that will embrace the physical play that Dan requires? The QB position is just huge for them in 2018. I expect the new freshmen to be the stater from day 1 not because he's that great but because they have nobody even good that I saw in 2017.

Mullen is a solid coach, and his biggest strength is definitely developing underrated recruits, especially at QB.

But he's not in Starkville anymore, and he's going to have to step it up on the recruiting trail. Now Florida by name alone will attract some bigger fish, but he's going head to head with some pretty dynamic recruiters in Smart, Taggart and Richt.

It was one thing when his biggest competition was Mississippi, but being measured against UGA and FSU is a completely different ball game.

ETA: I say all that to say, if Florida fans are patient enough, I think he'll eventually build a winner

Mullen is not a great recruiter...May be a great evaluator though.

But head to head recruiting for 5 stars, he won't win many of those battles against the likes of Georgia and FSU.

Here's an article with quotes from recruits on Mullen and Taggart. Not about Kirby but still relevant, I think.

Florida-based recruits give impressions of Taggart, Mullen

It's an odd article. It would be one thing if these guys were being recruited by both and could offer opinions, but they aren't at this time. Not sure it really has much value.

See our game against Georgia this year. That’s a pretty good indication of what to expect. Already getting reports out of Florida comparing Taggert and Mullen with recruits. It should be alarming to y’all

I agree, to an extent. I think this part is interesting, though. Just goes to show these guys notice how many times a coach jumps ship.

ON WHICH CLOSE WILL STAY IN PLACE LONGER
“Dan Mullen. I mean, Willie had been, like, three places in two years. So I mean, it seems like that one’s pretty easy.” -- Sanguinetti

“I think Dan Mullen because I’ve seen what Coach Taggart did in the past.” – Couch

“Definitely Taggart because he’s a South Florida guy. This means something to him.” – Wingo

“I got Dan. Who knows with Willie Taggart? He might want to go back to the West Coast or something. Who knows?” – Scott

“Taggart. I think he’s a fit there for sure.” -- Solomon-Wilson

“I think Mullen. Florida seems like his home. It seems like that the place he really wants to be.” – Britt

“God bless them both but I’ll say Dan Mullen because he was at the staff at Florida once already and it feels like that’s where he belongs.” -- Mullen

I did think that part was interesting. I was just surprised by the rest of the article, you'd think if the author really wanted to get a good idea of how recruits view the two coaches they would actually ask players being recruited by the two coaches.

I imagine it's in the best interests of guys being heavily recruited by both schools to remain silent on the subject.

I don't think many teams will be beating Kirby in the near future.

Yet to be determined. My initial thought on the matter is Yes, because one fact is unchanged, Georgia sux but jury is still out on Smart and Mullen is just starting out so.........I just go back to the one fact that is unchanged, Georgia sux.
