Yet to be determined. My initial thought on the matter is Yes, because one fact is unchanged, Georgia sux but jury is still out on Smart and Mullen is just starting out so.........I just go back to the one fact that is unchanged, Georgia sux.

Insightful and intelligent post, would read again.

On the trail no, I mean at this point kirby is at the same level with saban and meyer when it comes to recruiting so I don't see mullen keeping up.

He will in Florida

Definitely the baseline you should use to evaluate Mullen

Recruiting - No way Mullen beats Kirby on the recruiting trail. Yes, Mullen was with UF when they were pulling elite classes, but let's be honest, those were because of Meyer not Mullen. He'll probably be able to pull classes a little better than the shark humper did, but not much. Kirby looks to be a guy that's going to keep UGA with top 5 classes year in and year out. ADVANTAGE - Kirby

WLOCP - I think the monkey is finally off of UGA's back in this series. There was a huge hangover from the Spurrier era where UF was just in the Dawgs' head. It just feels different now. Add in that UGA is set at QB for the next 4 years and UF is still in flux at the most important position, means that UGA is poised to go on a little run here. ADVANTAGE - Kirby

I think people are underrating Mullen a little bit in recruiting. Early signing day was a big success and he has been incredibly active on the trail. UF has some big visits lined up and this could end up being a great transition class.

that's to be seen. He's never been known as a dynamic recruiter and has richt/taggart/kiffin/strong in his own state to go against. Not to mention the regulars in GA/AU/Bama that pluck some high profile FL guys as well.

Obviously, it will be easier to recruit in FL than it is in MS, but I don't think that JUST because he's in FL means he's all of a sudden gonna start pulling in top 5 classes.

He won't be going against Kiffin, and rarely against USF. IMO, Taggart's recruiting prowess remains to be seen as well. He could turn out to be great and I think he was starting to show signs at Oregon, but his recruiting at USF was underwhelming, especially for a guy with his connections to the area.

FAU and USF are non factors recruiting against the big 3

Not exactly... the difference here being if Mullen misses out on some of his top targets, some of the mid-tier guys that would have been depth may like their chance to shine at FAU (offensive) or USF (defensive)... not to mention UCF and how things go for Heupel who has shown to be a pretty dynamic offensive coach.

I do think that all factors being equal, UF/UM/FSU will win most battles for top 100-200 guys... but to assume they'll have zero impact is discounting their effect a bit too much.

There is very little impact. Even when dealing with very poor recruiters (i.e. McElwain) those schools haven't been much of a factor.

Does Georgia Southern hurt you guys in recruiting? This is silly.

JMO but I believe Dan will have success at UF. With that said does his current roster have the type players that will embrace the physical play that Dan requires? The QB position is just huge for them in 2018. I expect the new freshmen to be the stater from day 1 not because he's that great but because they have nobody even good that I saw in 2017.

The only one who might even have a chance is Trask -- and that's only because no one has actually seen him play. He had a redshirt the last year and had surgery this year. However, he's the only one that has the type of frame that Mullen seems to like -- 6'5''. 238 pounds.

I fully expect it to be EJ, but if anyone is going to take the job as starter it'll be him, and only because he has the size.

Yeah, the other schools don't ever really even trespass into our targets and even if they lucked out with one -- it's Florida, there is always another guy to take his place. The impact is so minimal that it's not even worth mentioning.

Long gone are the days uf has the talent advantage, and that's gonna effect the game on the field.

I have no idea what you're talking about concerning the approach. All I can say is please don't drink before 5.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Mullen turns Florida around, but I think it will take 2 years.

Mac didn’t recruit very well, but I believe Mullen to be a QB guru so who knows.
