Sure. The blackout drunks live in an alternate reality where their brain is actually not fully functioning and anger, of course, can also be an emotion while they are in that condition.
Then there are totally separate circumstances when someone is completely sober and they are so intellectually impaired in some fashion or another that short bursts of anger can make them totally oblivious to what world they exist in. They truly have no idea what they did for that short period of time when their emotions overtook them.
It doesn't seem like Kirby was drunk on alcohol when he attacked the child. If he is really telling the truth about absolutely not remembering almost knocking a kid out of his cleats, he may be a mental case.

Kirby should be put in concussion protocol.

Is Kirby actually looking at the player he shoves? He looks like he’s focused on something beyond the player.
He said he was trying to get to Schuman (sp?) the DC. He is right there. It really doesn't matter, should of at least been flagged for it. A fine or even a suspension is not over the top. I doubt seriously if he was "going after" Van Buren ala Woody Hayes but it is a BAD look and is not something that should be overlooked. In another situation you could wind up with mustard bottles and golf balls flying from the stands. If it had been on the road in a tight game that had already been "chippy", as they say, it could get ugly quick.

Stop saying “child” you moron. You sound like a cackling Karen. He is an 18 old ADULT.
Christ. If we’re ever invaded we are fricked because people like you will be whining about the nature of physicality.
It was not a good look for Kirby and he should get his shite together. But it’s not on the level of 9/11 like you’re making it out to be.

One of my HS coaches lost his shite on the refs and cost us a game. Neither he nor any of the other coaches ever said a word about it after the game.
Many years later, I looked him up online and found his testimony about getting sober.

Makes me think of Kevin Sumlin at A&M. Rumors were swirling by his final year, but I don't think anyone knew he was "get arrested driving blackout drunk" bad. It's not always obvious.
Wonder if it may be onset of CTE? How many blows did he take to the head as a player? Doesn't CTE cause memory and behavioral issues like extra aggression?

At least you used a little originality with this one.

He said he didn’t even remember it happening as he was going after Schuman trying to get a personnel change. #10 walked in front of him and he pushed him out of the way. Anyone that implies he was going after the player is just trying to start shite. It’s not like he ran over to the kid and confronted him….this was on our sideline.
That said, he needs to come out with a statement and apologize for it as it was a bad look and shouldn’t have happened.

If the sec does nothing in terms of fines or suspensions, it goes to strengthen the argument that the sec protects teams and programs that are successful.
The refs should be suspended as well. Intentional or not, that is a flag 100%. Are we about player safety or not? If this goes unchecked, that’s an even worse response by the sec.

This right here.
Penalties are for the most part “ unintentional” but yet the players number and play are singled out on national tv and the team is penalized.
Unintentional or not, the man should be held accountable.

I don't know how old and tough you're claiming to be for this particular internet persona, but college games have been filmed and subject to national exposure since at least the 40's.
There was never a time when a coach shoving an opposing team's player would not go noticed or discussed.
I said nothing about playing in college, but you are still extremely wrong.
It's a shame nobody told anyone the games were nationally televised back in those days. Hell, I never got to see most games on TV until the mid 90s and even then it was barely over half.

I don’t think Smart went over there with the intention of shoving the QB, but when the QB ended up in his way he damn sure did. He did not bump him. He shoved him.
I am not calling for his head or even a suspension necessarily, but it was inappropriate behavior from a coach.

It was such a big deal the QB and everyone else on the Miss St team had no idea it even happened until they were told.

I mean sometimes really really really bad things happen and nobody sees it at all. Guess it doesn’t count

There are only 2 choices for the shove, MSU QB or the ref. Neither is a smart (pun intended) choice.

I'm pretty sure when really bad things happen to people, those involved see it.

Well, seeing as the guy it actually happened to didn’t know it happened, I’d say yeah, it doesn’t matter. I really can’t believe anyone can be trying to make something out of this. I hate Georgia, but this was literally nothing.

Was Kirby asked about it at his Monday presser?
