Jimbo finished no.5 in the CFP rankings in 2020. Sark has finished with no less than 5 losses. Lets pump the brakes and see if he can take Texas to the CFP this year. They have no excuses.

So far I would say Sark is right on track to be a good coach for Texas. He came in and found the glaring weakness on the team, the offensive line and defensive line for the past 15 years, and he fixed them and added depth there. It was really simple to see, Tom Herman and Charlie Strong must have been some real baffoons to not see it, or were just too incompetent to do anything about it...They liked recruiting flashy receivers, RBs, and DBs, but barely any linebackers or Linemen..Maybe the announcement that they were moving to the SEC helped in the recruiting.. At any rate, Sark was smart enough to see it and did something about it. He also hired the right coaches to get the job done and not his brother in law's best friend type dudes.

By what metric has Sark been successful, that Jimbo hasn’t

starting next year, the metic will be simple
10 won NC
5 2nd place
3 tied for 3rd
2 tied for 5th
1 made playoffs
0 didn’t make playoffs
or something like that
add up the points and voila.. easy scale to measure by.. conference championships will mean yiou most likely get a bye 1st round, therefore they will still matter.

Bama was a consensus top 5 team. Then they lost to Sark.
Good God!
Last year Bama had a Heisman winner/1st player taken in the draft at QB. They had a bad game and still beat you at home.
Milroe ain't even in Bryce Young's shadow. Put Young in that game and you lose again.
Texas had their backup QB in the game for most of the game last year and you barely beat them with your Heisman trophy winner running BAMA's offense.
How can you assume BAMA beats Texas at full force with their starter QB in the game even last season, much less this season?

Jimbo's ship was starting to founder at Florida State. He got out of Tallahassee one step ahead of disaster. The signs had been there for a while: getting blown out by Oregon, getting blown out by Louisville, getting beat by Houston in a bowl game, a number of close scrape wins to inferior teams. Having Jameis Winston made FSU look better than it probably was, structurally.
Jimbo blamed the fading returns on FSU's lack of investment. While it may be true that FSU didn't invest as it should, it's pretty clear Texas A&M is into investing pretty heavily. The results just aren't there.
Texas A&M overpaid for a coach on the downhill.

So Jimbo is the FSU version of Coach O. Fortune found both of them via a rare QB but there isn't much to them otherwise. Sark is a legit football mind, so he will have a better career over time

Great breakdown of the two long touchdowns for Texas this past weekend.

Sark is 15-12 at UTx
at this point in his TAMU career Jimbo was 18-9 playing in a much tougher conference

Texas is a good team. Are they a consistent team? We’ll see. But beating AL in their home field is a big deal and there is no need to pretend it’s not. There doesn’t appear to be anybody on their schedule whose in their tier.
