Why is everyone still so weird about players faking injuries during hurry up?

Everyone knows players do this, we've all seen it done by dozens of programs, particularly over the past decade Fans know, the media knows it, coaches know it.
Why do we have to have this weird game where fans pretend like THEIR team doesn't do this, and we gotta pretend like accusations of it are considered shocking and taboo and coaches also have to deny they do this even though it's obvious.
Just once I'd love a coach to just say "Yeah we have our players do that. We think the current rules give the offense an advantage when it comes to hurry up so we do that to level the playing field. We aren't sorry."
Let's stop all the tippy toe bullshite.

Cramping is a result of fatigue caused by the hurry up.

because the refs can technically call a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct if a player actually fakes an injury.

100% Agree. Everyone is looking for an angle. Abusing the "spirit" of a rule is inbred into athletics starting at elementary age kids. Please stop with the sanctimonious pearl clutching. Don't like it then clean up all aspects of the game.

I have no problem in booing them on the field for doing it. but to hold onto it and judge, is quite hypocritical for every teams' fans....

Honestly I don't think it's unfair. The offense hurry up exploits the system in a sense, so it creates a way for defenses to exploit it as well. I don't really have a problem with it in all honesty.

Faking an injury to slow it down should be a delay of game penalty. The problem is figuring out who is faking and who is cramping up/actually hurt. I think the best indicator they can use is someone who is walking around after a play then falls down. That's almost always faking it to slow down pace.
Either that or say if someone comes out with injury on defense they are not allowed back in until change of possession.

But it doesn't, especially with the rule change. Defense gets to sub if offense does. If the HUNH bothers defenses that much, they should spend more time conditioning.

But they haven't and never will because of all the talk of player safety. A ref isn't a doctor. No ref will put himself in that position. The best they can do is put a blurb in the rules manual about "sportsmanlike play" and what not. Which they've already done.

Some teams are worse than others. I’ve never seen OU do it constantly when a team is driving Down the field, but I have seen Texas A&M drop a player after every snap when a team is driving down the field on them. There are others that are just as bad.

This all sounds great until someone loses their QB (or insert stud for team) for a play due to getting the wind knocked out of them or something and then can't put them back in until their next possession.
It would be pretty easy to review it just like the booth does for targeting that they call in from off the field. If they can see what they deem as communication from the sideline or some other form of clear abuse, retroactive personal foul even if play has continued. 15 yards and an automatic first down from wherever they are... likely to curb it pretty substantially. If you wanted to get crazy, you could call a double personal on the same team - both to be enforced... player and coach seen communicating.
If there was a review element during the ND game, I think we'd see that the first instance would have drawn a flag due to the communication showing not only one person receiving it and pushing a guy down, but another guy starting to go down until realizing it wasn't for him. While the second probably wouldn't have risen to that level, it also might not have happened at all given the prior penalty.
Not terribly concerned about it at this point, as it didn't change the outcome of the game... but seems like something that's also a lot easier to adjust for than people are implying in some other threads.

You know what else is part of the game? A penalty for doing something illegal. If you suck at faking an injury, you deserve a flag.

I don't disagree with that. But if a coach came out and admitted his team was faking injuries, you can rest assured refs would be on notice for that team. But yes, an official was commenting on that during one of the games last weekend where he basically said what you did. With all the emphasis on player safety, they can't assume someone may be faking and run the risk of it being an actual injury.

No one should do it. It’s fricking bush league. I’ve never seen two fakes in a single game as bad as from ND last weekend.
