Nobody has offered any of Dabo's staff a HC position other than Brent and then it wasn't a big name. Money talks but 1st there has to be an offer other than a sideways position.
Chad Morris was on Dabos staff...
You know nothing slick.

Most likely, he's waiting on Dabo to go to Bama so he can take over at Clemson.
That's what I've been hearing since the Dabo "Never say never" interview

He could be another Mickey Andrews. He is in a great position, making great money. Life is good at the moment.

Dabo has lost very few coaches.

Hasn't he turned down multiple offers? Maybe he just likes being a DC and doesn't want to have to deal with being in charge of an entire program?
Very possible. Bear Bryant's long time DC Ken Donahue never aspired to be a HC, and he was definitely the premier DC for many years.

Actually heard he is a truly terrible interview. He's interviewed for quite a few jobs in the past, but appears to have settled on just being a DC for now

Lane Kiffin made Brent Venables’s best group he had at Clemson look like hot shite in 2015.

It’s always been said by KState alumni and fans that he has a skeleton in the closet from his past that has kept them from ever going after him.

Why is your happy hour thread anchored. That makes HALF of the threads I’ve responded to in the Rant today anchored. WTF Lew. Why?

Chad who? He is a very good recruiter but a very bad head coach!

The only reason at this point could be because he doesn't want one.

some of you guys live in a small bubble that only revolves around your school's team and might possibly skirt out into your conference...if the info is posted on here.
it's been documented many times that Venables has been asked to interview for HC positions MANY times (Kansas State did ask him to come interview this year...he was their first choice, but when he wouldn't interview and stated that he wouldn't leave even for his alma mater then they moved on to the North Dakota State coach), but has turned down the offers because he likes Clemson (it's been said in this thread for those of you that don't read)...he has a son playing HS ball (graduates in '20 that will play @ Clemson) and a son currently playing as a FR @ Clemson...that he wants to coach. he gets paid incredibly well and he enjoys his life, for any of us...the quality of our life can mean a lot more sometimes than the perceived power (and headaches) that go with the higher paycheck and title that go with a new job.
why in the world do you guys think that Dabo is going to leave Clemson, where he is THE MAN, the best ever there...and has already built a program that now compares comparably to Saban's -- to go to Alabama and follow up Saban where he has built a program where he's the best ever now? no matter what he would do there, he would be scrutinized and criticized as not being equal to Saban or "Bear" Bryant. Alabama fans are not like Clemson fans...that's why the job there is such a joy for those guys...it's a family atmosphere where they are not barraged constantly with nonsense despite their great success.
my 2 cents, which isn't worth enough to buy gum in a corner store now...Dabo will stay in Clemson until he's ready to shut it down. he can continue to build upon the things he's doing as long as he can maintain, enjoy, and not burn out.
Venables may leave one day for a HC job, but hey...why has Virginia Tech's DC Bud Foster never left there (24 yrs as the DC, 33 yrs total as defensive coach there at Virginia Tech) - long thought to be one of the best in college football...he's 59 now. Some people like doing their thing.

So you're saying it's a Cult?

He and Aranda have said they will not leave their situations except for a GOOD Power 5 team. Probably waiting on Little Nicky to die (he will never retire) so he can be head Gump because Dabo is never leaving Clemson.

Why is it difficult to accept that some people might not want to be a head coach?
I'll toss out a name from our (me being a Bama fan) past: Ken Donahue. You think he didn't get a jillion feelers about being a head coach? But he stayed an assistant for years at Bama and then at Tennessee because it's what he wanted to do (and he was pretty damn good at it).

Growing up, I was the son of a coach...he was line coach then a D-coordinator and did it for over 20 years. He went into administration. I had heard many times growing up what a great coach my dad was, etc and asked him why he never took his own school and he said, "son when you are in charge and it's all on me, I can not hand anything off to anyone else when I know I'm going to be responsible for every result - I just couldn't manage delegating anything".
I later was a head coach for over 10 years and totally understood...I was at small universities and felt I had to control everything to make sure we were headed in the direction I wanted the program to go.
