Why does the transfer portal open before the playoffs are over?

Read articles today where backups on playoff teams are leaving. Why can't all of this wait till after the season is over?

because the end of the semester is now and the new semester starts in January. The NCAA still likes to believe these are "student" athletes.

I thought of that, but these are professional athletes wearing college jerseys now, and I doubt many of the. Go to class at all.

Boomer Esiason did a CBSSports bit about this. He said the NCAA needs to make changes to the times given for portal players to enter. I agree. This shite is anti common sense

Imagine if boosters start giving checks to opponents players to leave before they play. Would be wild. No way to catch something like that.

Because college football and the current "rules" are the equivalent of a dagwood turd sandwich.

Everyone here but a few wanted the players to get paid until they started getting paid.

Because presumably these fellows are still playing school, as absurd as that may be.

I never had any problem with players making money from their likeness or jersey sales or whatever, but the NIL + unlimited portal was too much, too soon. This was something that should have been eased into over time, much like conference and playoff expansion. Alas, the genie is out of the bottle now.

People are fine with NFL players getting paid but nobody thinks the entire league should be 1 year free agents, and there are also no tampering rules.

It never should have turned into a free market. should have been a stipend or revenue sharing. Every player should have gotten the same amount..nothing more. If I kid got a side gig and got a commercial, appearances, camps whatever he can keep that money...but the way it is now is stupid.

Cardale was right. He was just a precursor to what we are seeing now.

When this all started, I said that NIL would make it where athletes would only be required to train and prep for games.

Athletic scholarships should NOT be extended to kids already making NIL money coming to school. Save the money for research, and kids that actually need it.

Happy to say I was one of the few. Unintended consequences and shite.

Im not even sure it was unintended. The way these changes were rammed through overnight seemed pretty intent on destroying the sport as we knew it.

My guess is to give the "student-athletes" time to visit prospective new schools, enroll, pick classes, find a place to live, etc. BEFORE the winter semester begins.

The truth needs to consider the original poster of said video. Taurus is just merely the distributor
