They won the season championship going away, are undefeated and knew they're the #1 overall seed going into the NCAAT anyway. I don't see it as a disrespect to the conference.

I buy that they forgot. I don't think the SEC tournament title means all that much to this group of players in reality. They've been thinking about bigger things since the end of last season. So yes, I buy that they weren't in a rush to cut down the nets because they just didn't see it as that huge of a deal.
