Yes and no. Yes in that it comes across as 'oh you're too good for the SEC/don't respect the tourney/your opponents etc.' It's really an arrogant disrespectful thing to do. No, in the sense that life will go on and no one's going to lose sleep over it but it's an odd thing to not do.
Summitt owned the SEC Tourney for ages but even she was never too good to cut down the nets. Upon winning her 3rd straight SEC tourney in 2012 she remembered to do this:
^^That was Summitt's last year and she was already suffering from early onset dementia/alzheimer's. One month after this photo was taken she passed the torch (coach's whistle) to Holly.
For Cal to say he simply forgot is difficult to believe. TBH, it comes across like UK snubbing the conference. And while we all know you're good, a program that consistently wins titles should be above such things. At least act like you respect your opponent even when you don't.

And who cares if he forgot or whatever to cut the nets down. If they didn't cut them down, they would get some from the facility to put over the trophy.
