I think both fanbases are happy with the outcome.

What are you trying to accomplish here?

Lane accepted the Hogs job, then Ole Miss came calling and he and Sexton tried to play the Arkansas AD for more money and get the two schools in a bidding war.

He had a handshake deal with Arkansas, then cane back with a bigger number and Arkansas told him to look for employment elsewhere. Yuracheck was not going to play Sexton's games. He wanted someone, like Musselman, who wanted to be at Arkansas and didn't have to be wooed.

Thats when the deal fell apart and Lane went to Oxford. Ultimately, he got what he wanted...a decent SEC job with a big salary, but still the ability to jump to a powerhouse should they come calling.

Arkansas then slowed down and began interviewing and offering the job to other candidates, but they didn't accept.

Arkansas went to see Drinkwitz, an Arkansas native, and offered him, but he turned them down.

They also interviewed Deion Sanders and Mike Leach. Sanders wasnt ready yet, but appreciated the outreach, and Leach was still pissed about getting passed over for Chad Morris in 2018. He had wanted that job for 20 years but told them, too little, too late.

They also reached out to Matt Campbell early on, but he declined. They also made calls to Mike Norvell, but he was still pissed about getting ambushed in the 2018 interview by the female interim AD and he said no thanks. Plus he was in line for the Flwla State job.

There is also heavy speculation that Arkansas offered Justin Fuente of VA Tech, but he told them he "wouldn't touch that job with a 10 ft pole.

Thats when Hunter Yuracheck got a little desparate and called Pittman and he gleefully accepted.

Pitt wouldnt even have been considered had some guys in the Arkansas media not reached out to him during the process and told him what was going on behind the scenes and that it was kind of a shite show. He then called his agent, a lawyer in Little Rock, and got her to get in contact with Arkansas.

There was also a huge push from former players at Arkansas who Pittman coached, as well as a few higher profile media guys suggesting him publically.

And the rest is history.

This is a comprehensive and accurate post. It's comical how bad things got in the process for us, yet how well things turned out in the end, for both teams.

Pittman has been great for Arkansas and Kiffin has been great for Ole Miss. Both are cultural fits and both fanbases are happy.

Humans have this weird binary outcome "good or bad" thinking when in reality everything is a spectrum with millions of contributing factors.

Ole Miss needed a shot in the arm, Arkansas needed a loyalty, culture, and foundation change. Both coaches fit each program's purposes perfectly.

Agree this has been pure speculation, but oddly has been somewhat "verified" by multiple sources. Not sure if it was Fuente or not but that quote has been thrown around by various (non-message board) people.

He's not straight swamp arse like Mike Norvell - the #1 choice of many Hog fans (and my #2), but "underwhelming" is putting it diplomatically. I don't know what it is with people killing it at Memphis and then sucking elsewhere.

I don't know why another major job would want that guy four years into seeing what he could do at V-Tech. I'm pretty sure half the V-Tech fans wouldn't bat an eye if he was fired or hired away somewhere else.

Lane chose Ole Miss over Arky - it was a better fit for him at the time, plus OM had the better roster on paper. He would have taken either job but he preferred OM.

It worked out for both obviously, and Drinkwitz would likely be at Ole Miss had they not hired Lane.

Lower expectations. Allowed to cheat. Hotter coeds.

Maybe. But since their last "big time" coach messed around with prostitutes, felt like it wouldn't be a big deal to have consensual sex with coeds if no money was involved.

Exactly the reason why, when LSU fans want him, I want him to go.

He will continue to troll the internet, for which there no SEC equal. He will keep the baton rouge planned parenthood number in the top google search. He'll field teams which are dynamic and have the base fired up. Then, just as they are about to execute at the highest level, Lane will leave in the dead of night for the next program.

Hotty toddy.

But, I'd offer that Arkansas women are fine as frick too.

Honestly, most women in the SE and even out west are pretty fricking hot.

Once the east coast woman gets a real man, they melt like cheese and forget all about that feminist crap.

Ok, I digressed a lot.

If you're laughing at the potential existence of said scenario, your humor is probably misplaced.

If you're laughing at people being upset about somebody taking advantage of the non-binding nature of a "handshake deal" considering the tenuous nature of employment in this business, I'll completely share in your chuckle.

True, but Ole Miss women are just another level hotter.

We are the National Champs of hot women, just our thing.

Arkansas was a coaching death sentence for Chad Morris. I don't blame Kiffin for not wanting Arkansas, at the time.

Both seem to be pretty happy with their current coaches.

Every rumor that I’ve heard was he wanted a bigger salary and would take it from the assistants.

Then Hunter thought he was just a mercenary and would leave for any opportunity as soon as it came open.

Sam took the same pool of money took less of it to give more to his assistants. Which is easier to do when you don’t have kids, you aren’t trying to amass a fortune to leave to them.

Piggies need to get their story straight. At first it was a signed Memorandum of Understanding, and now it was just a handshake deal...

Kiffin acts like he graduated from Ole Miss. Hell people in any southern city would guess he was born in Oxford. He is perfect fit.
