There were two BOT members that weren’t on board with Kiffin. After getting burned by Petrino and Bert developing an alcohol problem there were two that were worried about Kiffin and the way he was in his past

Kiff went to Fayetteville High School and lived there during all of his teens when his dad was the DC Under Lou Holtz. That's also where he met Pete Carroll when he was a GA under Monte Kiffin.

Monte Kiffin - DC at Arkansas in 1977 to 1979

Lane Kiffin - born in 1975 LINK

So according to HogvilleLeaks, Lane was at Fayetteville High School when he was 2 and 3 and 4 years old

No wonder he's so smart!

Remember, Lane saw firsthand that you could recruit the kind of talent necessary to compete with and even beat Nick Saban at Ole Miss.
Yep and he also saw Arkansas beat Ole Miss that year. #4thand25

He will get his chance soon enough. Lane is a traveling man. Once the next shiny object gets his attention he is out the door. I expect his next stop to be LSU. A much more high profile job than Old Miss and Lane is always about Lane

As a Grenada native, this is completely uncalled for. That place is a shithole. Oxford is at the very least Corinth-with-a-college.

OK... I admit that was a bit uncalled for. Having spent time in Grenada it isn't exactly a wonderful place to live. I will take that clap back.

The fact that we have two giant Walmart logos (which I hate) front and center in our stadium should tell you the Walton's do care. You don't get your logo there unless you wrote a fat check.

Lane accepted the Hogs job, then Ole Miss came calling and he and Sexton tried to play the Arkansas AD for more money and get the two schools in a bidding war.

He had a handshake deal with Arkansas, then cane back with a bigger number and Arkansas told him to look for employment elsewhere. Yuracheck was not going to play Sexton's games. He wanted someone, like Musselman, who wanted to be at Arkansas and didn't have to be wooed.

Thats when the deal fell apart and Lane went to Oxford. Ultimately, he got what he wanted...a decent SEC job with a big salary, but still the ability to jump to a powerhouse should they come calling.

Arkansas then slowed down and began interviewing and offering the job to other candidates, but they didn't accept.

Arkansas went to see Drinkwitz, an Arkansas native, and offered him, but he turned them down.

They also interviewed Deion Sanders and Mike Leach. Sanders wasnt ready yet, but appreciated the outreach, and Leach was still pissed about getting passed over for Chad Morris in 2018. He had wanted that job for 20 years but told them, too little, too late.

They also reached out to Matt Campbell early on, but he declined. They also made calls to Mike Norvell, but he was still pissed about getting ambushed in the 2018 interview by the female interim AD and he said no thanks. Plus he was in line for the Flwla State job.

There is also heavy speculation that Arkansas offered Justin Fuente of VA Tech, but he told them he "wouldn't touch that job with a 10 ft pole.

Thats when Hunter Yuracheck got a little desparate and called Pittman and he gleefully accepted.

Pitt wouldnt even have been considered had some guys in the Arkansas media not reached out to him during the process and told him what was going on behind the scenes and that it was kind of a shite show. He then called his agent, a lawyer in Little Rock, and got her to get in contact with Arkansas.

There was also a huge push from former players at Arkansas who Pittman coached, as well as a few higher profile media guys suggesting him publically.

And the rest is history.

Only quibble I'd make here is that Norvell was a serious candidate at Arkansas. Arkansas, like 3 other SEC programs, looked at Norvell and passed.

I'm pretty sure the motto at Arkansas isn't "If you can't win the game, with the party" or some shite like that. Has to be right up Joey Freshwater's alley.

Why go to LSU when you get run outta town for going 9-3 while going 9-3 most years at Ole Miss will get a statue built for him. Lane has already been fricked over by one high profile job.

If he can pull in Arch Manning he can win big time at Ole Miss and he’ll be guaranteed 5M to 10M a year for the rest of his life. Or he can bounce to the NFL after Arch leaves. There’s not much upside going to a “bigger program” when considering the negligible increase in pay with much less job security and much more scrutiny.

Complete and utter bullshite. Kiffin knew Arkansas couldn’t be a year in year out contender. That will be proven with the 3 plus losses this year. Liked the roster at OM better. He never accepted any sort of Arkansas offer.

How in the freaking world say he chose OM because he knew Arkansas couldn’t be a contender?

We have been the ATL 3 times (you’ve never been) and Petrino finished top 10, top 5 and was preseason ranked top 8 when he crashed.

We were ranked #3 going into the final week of the regular season under Bobby.

1-3 was Bama, LSU and Arkansas.

Arkansas doesn’t have football program better than several SEC teams but OM isn’t above Arkansas in any aspect of football.

They don’t have a better program in any aspect historically or now.
