Dude won 10 games a year here but he was boring.......explains our fanbases present infatuation with Petrino, even after he shite on the entire program.

I'd walk around nekkid as a jaybird at the North Pole for a boring coach who wins ten games a year at Arkansas.

You could fill a wing of the Hall of Fame with great coaches that got ran off from Arkansas.

I still think TN should have weathered the short term and kept Pearl. Glad he’s at Auburn.

Did we technical fire Tubby Smith? No.

Was it gently suggested he find employment elsewhere? Yes.

I can't even think of a good coach that got fired at sc

Not that he was good, but what was the deal with the coach who was there one year between Carlen and Morrison. I think his name was Bell.

If we count that, then Gene Stallings.

Stallings was not going to be fired.

He quit because of a toxic, micro managing, president and AD.

He was ~60 with a special needs son near ~30 who was facing deteriorating health.

NCAA was an issue. But, he wasn't going to be fired (at least not yet). He just grew tired of the Admin oversight/overreach and work-life imbalance.

Completely different situation than Wimp, who slapped his side piece like it was 1950 and she spilled his dirty martini on his favorite blazer.

No, there was a meeting and it was agreed Stallings would be allowed to coach one more season and then resign. That was to not make it appear it was because of probation that was being placed on Alabama

Everyone involved from Stallings to the AD to the administration have denied this for years. It was pure rumor mill.

The President and AD were surprised as any when he retired. This article covers it fairly well from all sides. Just scroll down to the last two sections "changes all around" and "surprise retirement." It even acknowledges the rumors of "secret cabals," before all parties dismissed them. Personally, I'll take Stallings' word for it.
