What happened with all of the players that left last year? I remember a bunch bailed after the season which kind of put the team in the position they’re in now. I will say Bruce worked his arse off to get the roster he has right now

He’s got a good recruiting class committed. They need to give him a little more time.

UGA basketball is a mystery to me. State is loaded with talent but they seldom have good teams. What's the issue? Is your arena a shite hole? Even Tech has had some good teams over the years.

It is exactly what was said earlier, the fanbase, mostly, doesn’t care. When I was at school, we never even considered going to bball games. No one gave a shite.

I am fine with UGA keeping bball an afterthought. Put the money and effort into football. Football success is immeasurably more important. All other sports success is pretty meaningless.

A lot of UGA fans and supporters feel this way, and it seems like the athletic department and the administration do as well.

UGA basketball being historically mediocre/bad is one of the great mysteries to me. Talent within close proximity in all directions.

I heard Penny Hardaway might be available soon. He could lock up that Atlanta talent from Pearl.

Literally anyone with middle school or higher coaching experience would better than Crean.

Penny ain't leaving Tiger High unless he decides to. Even with his recent press conference, Memphis State ain't getting rid of him.

He made this mess. It will take us years to dig out from under it. He has to eat this turd whole. He can't just drop this in our lap and take $3.2 million back to his house in Tampa and say "peace out this is your problem now."

You could write that and just substitute Cuonzo Martin and Missouri, and it would all still be true.

I haven’t been inside of it in 20 years. Back then shithole would have been an aspirational goal. I’m sure they’ve done something to improve it since then. Hard to imagine that it could be brought up to the level of shithole though.

They are not mutually exclusive. Auburn fans screamed and complained until our AD finally built a nice arena and hired a good coach.

It’s awesome and you don’t know what you are missing. Basketball games to watch >>>> football offseason discussion.

Our Athletic dept. has been $hit for a long time. There is no reason UGA shouldn't be top 5, no less than top 10 annually in the Big 3 sports. If you can't compete with these resources, then you need to find another job. And, to hell with all the Georgia fans that disagree. We have a group of fans that are BIG pussies, that think it's ok to be mediocre.

I'm not sure what you mean by "a lot" but most UGA fans I know would love to see the basketball program become successful. Both Hugh Durham and Tubby Smith had very good teams and it made for a great vibe on campus after FB season.

They have to show a commitment to a new facility. Its the only way to get out of this tailspin IMO.

Yes to this.

But men’s basketball is really the only program at UGA that’s not in the top half of the conference. I’m hoping the new/younger AD will make a splash hire. And yes they need to build a new downtown arena.

Being shitty in basketball is much more acceptable than being shitty in football.
