Both would be strong hires. Sampson's past would have me hesitant though which ikely tips the scale towards Williams if I'm A&M. Both additions would be big for said team and the conference

Vols have had nothing but despair from guys named Buzz so I'd go with Kelvin Sampson. YMMV.

You don't hire Sampson. He has a show-cause for a reason.

What Sampson got in trouble for is now not a violation. Would be ignorant not to hire him based on that.
Sampson is a damn good coach and wins big wherever he is at.
The “show cause” is just five years and he has been at Houston for four. It’s not an issue.

I think Sampson is going to be harder to pull from UH than people think.

Uncle Tillman will never let Kelvin go. Besides, the reality is that the Coogs are back and they are a much better basketball school.

I am very surprised by the perseption of Sampson on the board. He’s not any dirtier than most and he’s a hell of a coach. Look how quickly he’s turned UH into a dark horse contender. The brand of defense they play is amazing. He was also a huge asset to the Rockets when he was there.

Buzz Williams has somehow made VT basketball relevant in the toughest conference in the country.

Buzz ball is a grind it out...physical style of play...tough defense (Like Billy Gillespie style at aTm). Would it be successful in the SEC vs long and fast athletic players? Could it work in the SEC? He has had success in the ACC with it.
