1995 Arkansas 8-5 (6-2): lost to SMU and their four other losses were by double digits.
1998 Mississippi State 8-5 (6-2): they gave eventual NC Tennessee a good game, but their other losses were pretty ugly, including getting blown out by 5-6 Okie State
2000 Auburn 9-4 (6-2): Decent wins over UGA and LSU, but the West was pretty bad that year and they got thrashed by Florida twice.
2002 Arkansas 9-5 (5-3): They made it to Atlanta to lose 30-3 to Georgia bc Bama, who had drubbed them in Fayetteville, was on probation
2010 South Carolina 9-5 (5-3): they had that huge upset of Bama, but no other wins over teams that finished ranked as the east was terrible that season. They did play Auburn respectably in the regular season, but got thrashed in Atlanta.

02 arky
I was so triggered when we lost that game

We probably would've gotten rekt by UGA too, but still that would've probably meant three straight trips to Atlanta. As of now we haven't had two straight

Missouri 2014 maybe? They went 11-3 but very few if any NFL players on offense and an average QB. They did have a pretty nasty D-Line though

2014 Mizzou was definitely not as good as their record, they lost to Indiana and 30-0 at home to UGA. But they still won 11 games so it's hard for me to put them there.

A Bama/Georgia rematch would've been a damn good game.

06 arkansas. By the end of the year they were not the best in their division

Tennessee had a chance to beat LSU in the conference championship game.
A late fumble deep in their own territory was the difference in the game.
They were by no means a powerhouse. But they could hang with the conference winner with the exception of 1 play.

The 2015 and 2016 Florida teams should be up for contention. They were the sacrifical lamb to Bama in Atlanta.

I hate to admit it, but at 5-3 in SEC play with losses to Tennessee, Florida, and Ole Miss, our 2001 LSU team might outh to be put up here for consideration.

Yeah I felt we were better than the record would indicate, but the losses to Old Mrs and Florida were awful. No shame in losing by 8 at Tenn

I feel like one of the Mclewain coached Florida teams really fell into an sec championship game. I know they played some really good defense, but were far from a Sec champ caliber team

Their 1 point win over Arkansas is what gave them the nod. Otherwise, Arkansas would have won the West with their only regular-season loss being to Tennessee.

The 2016 Florida team was pretty bleh. Their defense was ok, not great, and their offense was a trainwreck.
2002 Arkansas got better as the year went on, but yea not a real good team. Alabama was the best team in the West that year, even including the Fran quit showing against Auburn.

2003 Ole Miss...
Seriously though, probably 14 Mizzou or the McElwain UF team that made its way to Atlanta.

An honorable mention to 1999 Alabama. Sure, we finished 7-1 in conference and ended up winning the championship, but that team lost to Louisiana Tech...at home.
