Ole Miss held a 3–0 lead until the 4th quarter, often punting on first down due to the very wet conditions on the field.
Complete thread hijack here, but I can only imagine the reaction nowadays if a coach decided to punt on first down.

Ol timers remember Ole Miss being a big rivalry. That was ages ago.

Bama. They just won’t admit it.

A true blood rival...definitely Ole Miss. In the last 15 years folks have tried to make it Bama. But it's the Webels.

Arkansas and Ole Miss and Texas A&M want to be LSU’s biggest rival because WE are an important rival to them (the biggest rival for Arkansas and A&M, at least until Texas arrives, and the second biggest to Ole Miss), but the game just isn’t as important to LSU fans year in and year out. I don’t care how that makes those fans feel, it’s just a fact, not a dig.

That's ironic considering that LSU is a distant #3 for both Bama and UF.

Ole Miss but only when it comes to hot women.

5 wins since 2000 vs a team you play annually is not a rivalry…

Y'all keep storming your field.

1. LSU is no one’s greatest rival.
2. LSU fans hate each other, their coach, and their starting qb far more than they could ever hate any opponents.
3. Which rival a fan considers the “biggest” depends mostly on their age:
Greatest Generation: Tulane
Boomers: Ole Miss
Gen X: Auburn or Florida
Millennials: Alabama
Gen Z:Texas A&M

I think this is 100% accurate. Who is LSU's rival is related to the generation you ask. So no LSU does not have 1 true rival that the entire alumni base, fan base, former players, coaches, etc, etc all rate as the said #1 true rival.

Tennessee and LSU both consider Alabama their biggest rival, but Alabama doesn't consider Tennessee and LSU their biggest rival. Pretty impressive on Alabama's part!

Ole Miss has beaten LSU more than any other team than Alabama.
This century though the record is 17-6 in favor of LSU.

And why is it Ole Miss?
This might be unpopular, but its Florida since the 1990s. I know Bama but that was more about Saban. LSU fans just hate Florida because of the 1990s. And since the divisions, the Florida/LSU game has meant a lot to each program because it usually dictates the chances to getting to the SEC championship for both teams.
