Seems like many just go with chalk or last years performance. With NIL and the Portal that approach doesn’t work.

Who IYO is the most well informed and objective ranker of the SEC?

None of them.

Who knows who will actually show up and start...

On paper, TX should be number one. ~dawgfacedmutt ranking services!~

Ranking teams by roster =/= schedule difficulty or coaching

Odds to make the SEC Champ game provide the best ranking, imo

Phil Steele predicts it like this. He at least tracks his results

Phil Steele's latest College Football Preview magazine predicts the final standings for SEC Football in 2026.

With 16 teams playing a nine-game conference schedule, several programs are projected to finish tied in the standings.

Georgia and Texas are expected to finish tied at the top:

Here's Steele's predicted order of finish for the SEC in 2026:

T-1. Georgia Bulldogs
T-1. Texas Longhorns
T-3. Alabama Crimson Tide
T-3. Oklahoma Sooners
T-5. Ole Miss Rebels
T-5. Texas A&M Aggies
T-7. Tennessee Volunteers
T-7. LSU Tigers
T-9. South Carolina Gamecocks
T-9. Auburn Tigers
T-11. Florida Gators
T-11. Vanderbilt Commodores
T-11. Missouri Tigers
14. Mississippi State Bulldogs
15. Kentucky Wildcats
16. Arkansas Razorbacks

Predicting teams when you’ve got 30-50% roster turnover year to year seems futile

I couldn’t even name half of VOLS starting 22 and I’ve had season tickets for over a decade

Why would Ole Miss be ranked ahead of ATM?

Roster turnover, new coaches and betting on how 18 and 19 year olds will react to pressure make these types of predictions just guesses.

Of course they fall back on history to make these predictions and every year there is at least one outlier.

The funny thing is that since NIL started, the teams that have done the best with it have been pretty consistent. Most of y'all just don't like the new order.

I feel real confident that Missouri, Vandy, USC, Kentucky, Arkansas, Ms st, will be dog house teams.

Top SEC teams that could beat each other any given Saturday depending on how the ball bounces are Texas, Georgia, OU, Bama, LSU, Tenn, Auburn, Florida, A&M and Ole Miss

We have a very tough conference. Let those Big 10 cucks crow how much better the Big 10. LOL

I think it is fair to say that Georgia and Alabama will be good because they always are. Texas should be good because of their roster.

The rest of your list? That group has been really inconsistent lately so who knows how they will turn out. Might put Ole Miss with Georgia and Alabama on the strength of Chambliss... but just for this year.

OU, LSU, Tenn, Auburn, Florida and A&M? All have been way to up and down lately for their fans to bet the farm that they will be really good.

I don't know who the Vols have, but I really like your RB Bishop. Good player, and by all accounts a good person.

Did Bama have a strong portal class? Just wondering why they are rated above Ole Miss and LSU? Also LSU seems low, i believe Kiffen will make some waves immediately. It’s likely that one of either Auburn or Florida will have a much better year than projected depending on which hired the right guy.

There are basically tiers, beyond that you can argue order however you want but no one knows:

Tier 1: Texas, UGA
Tier 2: Bama, LSU, OU, A&M, OM
Tier 3: TN, UF, AU, SCe, Missou
Tier 4: Vandy, MSU, UK, Ark

Beyond that it’s just arguing to argue.

Portal era CFB is like dating a stripper when you’re young, you probably won’t be happy with the overall experience, but it’s never boring or predictable.

I'd swap LSU and Ole Miss and maybe move the Aggies up one.

It brings me no pleasure to say this.

You know the rules

The person or service with the best ranking is the one that has your team the highest

Just like 24/7, on3 and espn suck when they don’t have your team higher than you think they should be
