That's not the rules for Arkansas. We want the one which ranks us the lowest so we can bitch and also so we don't get our hopes up.

How can anyone be objective today.
Rosters turn over annually. Strength of schedule are wildly different. There is a talented transfer who has not broken through a depth chart who will blossom into a game changer.
The "pundits" embrace and favor the same folks who are legacy brands. Before the transfer portal the dominant programs would just reload and the media would just assume that the replacements would be just as good as the players who graduated or entered the draft. There are no assurances of that any longer.
Plus, it's more true than ever that "on any given Saturday" someone will bite a highly ranked team in the arse.

Kentucky completely rebuilt their offense and I think will be a much tougher team if they have a QB.
Arkansas lost 6 one score games last year. They were better than their record indicated but Green is gone so who knows.
South Carolina got rid of Shula and actually has some major talent at the skill positions, but can they figure out the OL and get their athlete at QB to be a QB who happens to be athletic?
Missouri has one of the best backs in the country and I think is kind of between the bottom tier and the tier with AU, UF, etc. People forget they were a top 25 team before they had key injuries.

I don’t see how UF, AU or TN on paper should be considered in the same breath as UGA or TX. There is a pretty clear and obvious difference between those rosters and the coaching change for UF and AU doesn’t help either.

I can honestly say I have no idea what A&M will do. New but experienced OL pieces. New OC familiar with the system, new DC but Elko is basically the DC anyway. People seem to forget that Reed is just a rising Junior and last year was his first full season as a starter.
The only question for OU is at QB. Mateer fell apart last year after a promising beginning. Defense will be incredible.
Texas has a ton of talent but Sark has never been able to put it together. Last year with Arch and Sark is fired if he doesn't make the playoffs. The Texas money is getting impatient. Sark's "interim" is already on campus, which probably doesn't make his job any easier. I expect Sark to be let go and Texas takes a shot at talking Saban out of retirement.
LSU is a complete wildcard. Baker has been less than impressive at LSU, and I'm not sure that will change. Lane needs to get his head out of hot yoga class and on the field. LSU administration expects the playoffs. The fans can hem and haw, but the man was given $40M to put together a playoff team. Not to rebuild.
UGA will be good. Kirby is the best coach in the SEC by a good distance. Same verse, same result
UF will be better than many think. They have a ton of talent, and I believe Sumrall is a good coach. Time will tell, but they finish somewhere in the top half
Tennessee I have zero idea. Same goes for UK. I don't watch either team play.
SC will live and die with Sellers. Briles is a PoS like his old man but their offense should be better. Their DL is a humongous question mark. Beemer is fired after this year.
Arkansas cannot get much worse. Same goes for Missouri. Expect MSU to be in the market for a new coach this offseason.
And Auburn. They will play tough, but they are the biggest question mark outside of LSU. QB play, coaching, too many questions to provide an educated guess.
As for Alabama. I think DeBoer is a good coach but not sure he fits at Alabama. This year will tell whether he is a short timer or not. Following Saban is a tough ask and only a few coaches could do it. Kirby could.
Ole Miss. No idea at all how they will handle a full offseason under Golding's staff. Have the best QB in the SEC on their team. Ole Miss/LSU will be the most-watched game this Fall.
I actually expect OU to win the SEC this year. Them or UGA. Defense is everything in this league. Need an offense but defense is king.

Couldn’t have said it better. It blows my mind how fan bases bitch about preseason polls, tiers, etc. It means absolutely nothing and people get so worked up.
When you replace 50%+ of rosters every year, nobody has any idea what’s gonna happen when the season starts, including the coaches.
UGA is top 5 in most polls but is by far the youngest team with an average age of 19.2 and 54 freshman.

It’s like the fans that just listen to pods of their team and homers that keep saying how this team is so much stronger faster and bigger. They show clips of a DL in the weight room squatting 500lbs and their QB throwing a perfect pass in shorts to another guy in shorts. The fans act like that’s very unique to their team.

As a guy that listens to numerous SEC and B1G podcasts, newsflash: every team spokesman is saying this, even the Miss State, Purdue and Rutgers beat writer.
Everyone is undefeated and this team is already much better than last year.
