I heard from.a couple of our talking heads that both Will Stein and Eric Morris were interested, but that HY didn't want to wait around for them to finish their seasons before coming onboard. I don't know how true those rumors are, but they were put out there.
It's not just our AD that is the problem, although he's a lot of it. The BoT allowed this problem to deteriorate over several years without doing anything about it. They seemingly didn't care how football went as long as it made money and to all of a sudden act like they're so concerned that they need to do a study about it is a joke.

Toleration killed Arkansas football.

Matt Campbell
His Penn St team just gave up 413 rushing yards to NORTHWESTERN, including at least five 20+ yard runs up the middle.

OMG!
And? Arkansas made a very mediocre aggy team look like title contenders last night.

Arkansas could commit to $40-50 million NIL have no problem finding a big hire.
You look in the abstract and it seems impossible.
The right people are not interested because HY refused to commit to NIL.

The overreaction to first year coaches here is extreme. I mean even Saban, Kirby and Sark sucked in year one and they inherited a goldmine compared to Silverfield.
We should at least give the guy three years before shitting our pants.
I readily agree that this place is quick to want a coach fired.
Silverfield had Arkansas fans immediately revolting when he was hired, and Silverfield's own comments about the admin have been troubling.
I'm not saying he should be fired. I'm asking who else they realistically could have gotten.
I'm saying fire him today.
Waiting 3 years for a bad coach is a terrible idea that sinks programs. If there were any indication Silverfield had a chance, by all means, but this guy is an obvious loser

Probably should have hired the guy Memphis hired. He's been an upgrade over Silverfield.

Arkansas allegedly raised over 35 for football, but then it come out only 25 was available?
But hey we're are top 3 in the league in Men's basketball, baseball, women's golf, men's track, women's track, softball, and 8th in women's basketball.
So we know where the donations people made to football ended up, but no one is stepping up to take credit for the decision.
The director cup standing banners pasted in the football stadium may be a hint.

I think Kane Womack interviewed.

He did and the fanbase was intrigued about him since he went to school at Fayetteville HS. His dad was DC here back in the day etc.
But Hunter had Arkansas the first SEC job open and only Silverfield tanked his teams season so he was available to be the last SEC hire made. Hunter wasnt willing to wait until after the playoffs for a Wommack or any other coach at a school in the playoffs to be full time.

That place is a coaching grave yard now.
With their NIL allotment, it is the worst job in the conference.
They will have to just get lucky on a DII/ coordinator hire because no hot name in the g5 ranks would ever touch that job.
