Who could Arkanas have realistically hired other than Silverfield?

Pretrino couldn't seal the deal; so, he's not a viable answer.

***This is not a trash Arkansas thread. It's a real question.

Also, would it really matter who they hired with the same admin in place?

No one.

That place is a coaching grave yard now.

No one wants to coach a fan base of roaches.

I would’ve hired Eric Morris. His offense is fun and he is good at finding under the radar talent that flourishes in his system.

Petrino. He essentially got punished because Pittman left him with the worst defense in school history. Despite the defense, they were competitive in nearly every single game last season. This new guy can't even have them put up a fight and make some team sweat. It's blowout after blowout.

Hiring a successful g5 coach isnt the worst idea. Thats where cignetti came from. I would have hired a more successful g5 coach if thats the route I went but im not an AD and dont make millions of dollars to make such decisions

OKST is paying him more than Silverfield is making.

Plus, OKST is a better job, but I am a Poke making that assessment.

Going to have to find an alum or someone who really likes the state of Arkansas to put up with it because it is a dead end road at this point. I would imagine Silverfield either wishes he was back at Memphis or will do so soon.

The SCar slapfight should determine the basement dweller....

the bottom line is all three aac coaches newly hired into the SEC lost in spectacular fashion this saturday. they probably all be out of the league in three years.

So are you an OK State fan or a Georgia fan? I’m confused

Morris was begging for the Arkansas job.

He went to Stillwater because Hunter had his guy in silverfish.

Matt Campbell and PJ Fleck both were seriously interested until Hunter fricked it up per usual.

Hunter likes to put out his hires are the only guys who want to be here, but the truth is they are the only ones willing to work under him.

This is true. But only one of them has not even been competitive against teams that have any resemblance of a pulse. Silverfield is getting blown out every game. Sumrall and Golesh have at least given their teams opportunities to win the majority of the games. It's definitely not a good look for Silverfield.

No one here wanted Silverfield outside of Hunter Yurachek.

The gotcha of him sucking isn't the burn you may think it is, it was expected the day he was hired.

Huh? I'm not trying to make it some gotcha or burn. Just pointing out the difference. Those other guys may fail too, but they have at least shown they can be competitive. Silverfield is way in over his head.

Petrino gave Arkansas that competitiveness last season even though there was a massive hole in the defense he was left with.

Dan Mullen - available and proven he can win at a lower tier program
Brian Kelly - available and Arkansas accent is easier to do
Jimbo - available and financially aet for life; would coach for love of the game. . .and opp to beat Aggy
Dabo - might be looking and experienced working with limited NIL
John Calapari - already on staff

He turned us down last year, but I wish Jerry would drive across town and convince Rhett Lashlee it’s time to come home when Silverfield is fired. Eventually.

He parlayed our interest into a top 10 salary last year. Roughly $9.0-10 mln I believe.
