If UGA didn't comply, then Kirby Smart would have made demands at South Carolina. For all we know, he would be at Bama right now.
But UGA did comply. And 2 national championships later, everyone thinks it was such a no-brainer what Kirby needed.

Lane, to me, is like a Mullen hire. Back to 9-11 wins a year, but that's it.
Florida needs to decide if they actually want to win before they commit to anything/anyone.

I’m not arguing that or that it can’t happen
But My point is that
1. Florida has to be willing to go all in and do it
2. Does Kiffin have what it takes to make and get those demands.
Not saying he isn’t a good coach or great play caller. But he still strikes me as not having enough maturity for a place like Florida bend to his demands….if he even knows what demands to make.

He doesn't want it anyway. He's not leaving Oxford any time soon. I'm not saying never, but not within the next 3 years.
No one (even Lane) can know that. Things in life can change in the blink of an eye, so to to say what someone will do or won't do in the next three years is about as accurate as throwing darts blindfolded. When the Auburn job was open I heard from Ole Miss fans he wasn't going and had zero interest, only to listen to Lane himself say that he was going to Auburn until his daughter talked him out of it. So there ya go, he was on his way out then and apparently only his daughter was able to change his mind.

Watch "The Many Lives of Lane Kiffin" on ESPN at 6:00pm CST tonight and you'll understand why Lane isn't leaving Oxford in the next couple years.

Wouldn’t we take this all day right now? There isn’t a guaranteed championship coach out there besides Kirby and Day. Dabo hasn’t adapted and please don’t even mention Saban.
It’s Lane or bust at this point but as other’s have stated that UF administration is a pile of steamers right now. Need a President who gives a damn about football and tells Stricklin to stay in his lane when it comes to the football program.

I don't think the Florida job is as attractive as it was, say 20-25 years ago.
The State poduces a lot of talent, always has. Now, you have four other legit programs in the state to recruit against.
The rest of the SEC, ACC and big ten recruit the state as hard as they ever did.
If you look back at the history of the Florida program, only a few coaches have had anything that looked like even moderate success. Florida likes to run off coaches about the same way Auburn does.

No one.
This program is rotten from the core. I agree with CAW that unless we clean out the UAA and their buddy boosters, we are never going to do what it takes to win at a high level on a long term basis.
I will add that any great coach will cut his time shorter than it should be at Florida because of the lack of support from the UAA. Our best two coaches are perfect examples. They got frustrated with the administration and left and found success at their next stop and there should have been no reason for either to leave.

Will it even matter. Some Florida folks here have mentioned big problems in the schools administration.
If that is true, that would have to get fixed first if they really want to fix football.
This is overblown.
The administration bent over backwards to give Napier every possible thing he asked for. The problems with the football program aren't because of support, its because the head coach is absolutely clueless how to manage a program of this size. That is totally on Stricklin for getting the hire so unbelievably wrong (and should be enough to oust him from the AD job), but support-wise the coach will get what he wants. It's literally happened for every single hire since Spurrier.

Best bet is to fold the football program and put all the money into keeping Todd golden and buying top tier basketball players

I agree, but Golden will leave way before he should because of the administration, and win at another school or the NBA.

That's very possible, but the future and making plans for it can be a trickity devil sometimes.

In the Rant’s opinion, who should Florida hire to make them feared again? Let’s keep the options realistic

If they hired Alex Golesh and gave him UF's money and resources. It would be a bad day for the rest of the SEC.

I'd make Lanning say no.

Fran Brown would be scary good at UF.
